Daily Inspiration: Meet Craig Wayne Boyd

Today we’d like to introduce you to Craig Wayne Boyd

Hi Craig Wayne , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Howdy Ya’ll! I am Craig Wayne Boyd, country artist and winner of season 7 of The Voice. My single, “My Baby’s Got a Smile on Her Face,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart—a rare feat and huge blessing.

Born and raised in Mesquite, Texas, I grew up with a deep connection to music, particularly country and southern rock. I honed my craft over the years, performing in bars, songwriting, and working tirelessly to make my mark in the music industry. Following my win on The Voice, I have been honored to play the Grand Ole Opry 25+ times, I have shared the stage with Charlie Daniels, Travis Tritt, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Marshall Tucker Band, Kelsea Ballerini, Blake Shelton etc. and continue to tour the world sharing my country music.

Beyond my music, I am a devoted family man. I am married to my beautiful wife Taylor Boyd, and together we share five musical kids. The family has taken on the band name BoydsRUs and recently released our first single “Halloween Song”.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh boy it has been a ride. I worked tirelessly for ten years in Nashville, at one point living in my car right before I went on The Voice and became an “overnight” success story 🙂 I have been on a label that folded due to lack of financial support right as I was getting traction on radio pre- Voice and then after the win it was like someone threw rocket fuel on my career and I toured 250 some odd dates that year. Since I have experienced the highs and lows of the industry but I still have so much more music in me. Currently working on album number 6 and I cannot wait to share! This year I will be touring the states as well as Australia, Scandinavia and the UK which I am so excited about. It’s always been a dream to tour the world sharing my music and last year we started to make that dream a reality and it’s been a blast! Hoping to get my family in on some the these tours this year too!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a country music artist through and through. My dad taught me at a young age mandolin and guitar. I was a bass player and backup singer and in school I played saxophone. I also enjoy tinkering on the piano. I was born with both of my lungs collapsed so for me to be singing for a living is something I never take for granted, a true blessing. I have always had what I like to call “stick-to-it-ive-ness” and that drive pushes me through this crazy business.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Nashville is electric. You can go anywhere and find amazing music or artists you recognize. I love the country community that resides in Nashville and am so thankful to be apart.

It is sad to see some of the iconic honky tonks getting replaced downtown especially with all of the history they hold.
