Today we’d like to introduce you to Tala Shatara
Hi Tala, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a news anchor and on-air personality with K-LOVE Radio! I come from the world of communications and broadcasting where I spent the majority of my career in television. I started my journey of Broadcast Journalism at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN (if you don’t count the amazing productions I forced my parents to watch when I was a little girl! LOL).
I immediately knew at a young age that I wanted to tell stories. It was never and is still never about me. My goal everyday is to continue giving so many amazing people the platform to share all that makes them unique, innovative, and worthy!
From interning on football sidelines with ESPN-U to having my own lifestyle show at just 25 years old, I am far from being done with the love I have for this kind of work.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Heck no, and I prefer that!
I believe you find your purposes in life through you pain, your message through your message, your testimony through continuous tests.
It was not until I found myself lost, broken, and scared that I could find the passion that I have for what I do everyday. It made me never want to take anything for granted and become reminded everyday that I am so fortunate and blessed to be in the position I am in.
From internal struggles to external, I have seen and heard it all. Jealousy, lies, mistreatment, misunderstood, and so much more has found me on every corner, especially from those I had previously put my trust in.
When being in the public eye there is very little room for human error. All eyes are always on you and sometimes that can be one of the hardest feelings to go through. I now ensure I put Tala first and give myself a break before I break.
If it wasn’t for a loss in direction that I wouldn’t have been able to rebuild myself time and time again.
My success was born out of pain, shame, madness, and even the will to not go on. However, I believe we are the most creative in those moments.
Thank goodness I had a wonderful mentor and supportive friends and family because I was so close to throwing in the towel many times!
Bring on the bumps — they make me stronger, more successful, and resilient.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an on-air personality and news anchor for K-LOVE in Franklin, TN! My job is very interesting and has opened up the doors into different ways I can be a journalist. My faith is very important and pivotal in my life and when thinking of what would be next after my time in TV news, I knew I needed to belong to a ministry that held sacred and real values I try to implement in my everyday life.
My bread and butter will always be TV as I especially love to tell stories on a more visual level.
At K-LOVE, I am eager to bring more video content to our newsroom and do the same type of work, only this time– on a national level!
I am also an author and podcaster of my book, Finding Plan B. This book was written during the darkest of times for not only me, but other women who are constantly learning how to pivot on demand in a very demanding world. The book follows a step-by-step guide format on how to process grief while also “finding” what is yet to come! It wasn’t long until I realized many were needing a way to hear my voice rather than reading them off a page. I released my coinciding podcast which takes readers through a more intimate reading experience. From losing jobs to relationships, life can feel like sand slipping through your fingers. FPB was written for the girls who need to be reminded that slowing down and keeping God at the center is all that is and should be expected of her.
Along with my broadcast and writing career, I lend my voice to multiple non-profits and organizations who are needing an emcee for their biggest fundraising events. I have emceed many events and it is my honor to lend my voice to amplify missions I believe in myself including Arab-American culture, affordable healthcare, human trafficking, literacy, and more.
On my off days, I spend my time as an avid Instagram user who is always ready to “influence” through the lens. From fashion, beauty, travel, fitness, and more I have been honored to represent some of the largest brands and businesses through my decade-long tenure.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am always looking to elevate YOU! If you have a story I am hear to give you the microphone! My day consists of speaking with people who use their platforms and lives to glorify God and his goodness for the world. If you are a like-minded person who would love to chat, I am all ears!
