Meet Jayden Eastman of Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayden Eastman

Hi Jayden, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I wrote my first song in 8th grade with nothing much but a laptop and some cheap earbuds. I never took music seriously until later on in life. I found myself writing and recording song after song, making cover arts, designing logos, and even helped launch a retail company for disc golf. It wasn’t until I spoke with Adam Cherrington for over a year that I realized how much of a influence I could have on the music community. Him being the one who gained me the opportunity to start getting one off features and contracts. All while giving that same opportunity to the independent music community for short periods of time. There’s still a lot to learn though, but to me that doesn’t matter much. After surviving a close call with death due to gun violence. I lost all my friends having nothing but music, God, and family to help me through. Dealing with P.T.S.D., anxiety, major depression, losing relationships being friends or as serious as potential marriage. I never gave up, and never plan on it. There’s so much I’d like to accomplish within music. I’ve been forced to achieve everything in my journey so far by myself. I will say this though I’ve been slowly gaining, and finding like minded individuals who have been a great help on my journey thus far. With no paid promotions I can proudly say I’ve achieved over 130,000+ natural streams in under the corse of a year and a half with a catalog of songs not even exceeding 80 tracks with many more to make so long as the world will let me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been quite rough honestly. Not having much support or a solid team, and I’m sure there’s plenty of people from my hometown who still pulls beats from youtube making fun of me to this day. Yet, I feel unbothered since I put a lot effort into researching how to do publishing, distribution, licensing, finding A&R’s, selecting music equipment, how to record, how to mix and master tracks, and saving hard earned money on software. It’s not like all of this stuff just falls into one’s life like the movies. There was a time I had to choose, music or survival. I’m sure my first studio equipment is still out in the world somewhere making someone else happy; ever since I pawned it back when I was couch hopping. After that I went back to slaving at jobs I hated, and eventually saved enough money for better equipment, software, etc. I found myself talking to people I couldn’t even fathom talking to way back when because of their staus in the industry. Though even then I did get scammed by a Artist recently, I won’t name, mainly because he’s helped with the fires in L.A. in which I hope when he see’s this he uses that money for the feature towards helping the community out there. That’d make me really happy. The road will always be rough on the journey. I’m pretty sure I lost my last day job, well night job, due to a back and joint injury. Honestly I don’t think there’s anyway I could go back to doing what I was doing in that wearhouse, no way. My next rough patch on this journey is figuring out how to gain enough funds to get a hold of a new laptop. Mine recently broke while traveling not even a few days ago. That’s life though. God has his own ways of removing things out of one’s life to create more room for the blessings he has in store for the rest of the journey. I hope my road stays as smooth as a path never created before. All in all if I can get through it, I’m sure anyone can even with all the rough bumps and hardships.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I write and record music. I handle design, logos, mixing, mastering, and most recently working on composition. I don’t make songs to fit in by no means. I make songs to help me heal from traumas, and the hardships of daily life. Many might know me for my one off contract features and songs, with Krizzkaliko, Twista, Papoose, and others. Others might know me for giving back to my community through disc golf. Some might know me from my crazy work ethic and productivity in all work related fields being common or within the music industry. Heck, people might even just know me for bowling and real life conversation while enjoying a few beers. Regardless, I’m proud that I never gave in to the negativity or thoughts during my times of depression. Along with all songs I’ve been able to make so far even if other people likes them or not, I could care less about opinions. Mainly because music has helped me gain confidence and over come my pain, and traumas. On the chance that’s not good enough to be proud, how about the fact after I collapsed my lung, I refused treatment then went on to record my first album. Now that’s something to be proud of. Not only did I heal from that naturally, but lived on and recorded over 50+ songs after that.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I’m not great at creating to a genre. That said when I create a beat or instrumental 81% of the time I have not a clue what I’ll end up creating. I also only have one professional tattoo and the rest were done by myself and freehanded. Otherwise most music I create is made in under 3 hours starting with the beat, writing, recording process, and ending with a mix and master. Then a entire night of listening to the finished song, and convincing myself to release it.
