Today we’d like to introduce you to Darlene Fowler.

Darlene Fowler

Darlene, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been in Music, the biggest majority of my life. I started singing in church at four years old started singing with my family around age 10 always knew I wanted to be a singer, play piano love Jesus first and be in music for the rest of my life. We came off the road in 1983. My son was born in 1984 and after that, I just sang in church and with various groups. I worked in the childcare industry for a few years and travel as a sales coordinator hair and Make Up Artist in the 90sin 2000. I came to Nashville to work for my friend Gene Higgins who owned the Christian Country Music Association during this time I met a lot of Label folks a lot of industry and made friendships that are still vialid today. In 2016 the company was sold, but by this time I had made enough connections in Nashville and I knew by the grace of God what I wanted to do so in 2017 I opened up MC1 Nashville shortly after the opening, I signed my first artist, Brooke Woods from Pensacola, Florida, and Twice Robin And Krista Jordan from Warrior Alabama. Shortly, after opening the label we received distribution through Sony Orchard and are still active today. It has been a real experience. A time in my life that I will love forever. I love working in developing New artist and even seasoned artist. We have worked with over the last few years. We currently have a great roster of awesome talent with songs on music row charts cashbox we do hits and other chart circulating around town. We were blessed to sign Jeff Carson in 2021 and did a remake of the Curb song. God save the world. My son, Zac Maroof Produced the record and we followed it up with a video. After reaching top 40 on Music Row my friends abd piers at

Curb Records reached out to me and ask if we could do a Collab since they had Jeff 20 years prior and we had him now of course I was so excited and I said yes let’s do it from that. This song went on to number 27 giving Jeff Carson a hit single after 20 years at the police force. We’ve also signed BB King‘s baby daughter Claudette King to our Blues R&B division. We have been blessed to work with some great artist over the last several years. We are always looking for new talent. Actually we have just signed a couple artists who are really standouts Emma Forgette, Gary Howard & Jace Aaron, One’s to watch for in 2025 . Paula slow, Greg Baggett, Brooke Woods, Chuck Thomas, Tammy Brandon Lee, Braunzie Gurl and the Queen Macy Tabor are carving their path in this music industry. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When the sun shines it always rains. There have been obstacles but I think more victories than defeat. One thing I learned earlier on in this industry, you do the best you can, but everyone cannot be Stars. Everyone is not going to be the next big deal . But victories come when artist allow you to work with them. When they listen now that is a big deal for some people they don’t want to listen lol. We also ran into Covid in 2020 we’ had been in business three years. I had a large staff at the time, but we were booming. We had a lot of artist doing a lot of shows and then Covid happened and everything semi shut down. We still released singles to Radio , but Artist couldn’t travel so therefore they had no income so their income affected the Label income. People were not buying Music really , But anyway by the grace of God, we are still standing and let me say again it’s only by his grace I’m looking forward to 2025 being our best year yet.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about MC1 Nashville?

What’s next?
By the grace of God, my plans are to continue on in the industry with MC1. We have also added another imprint Nashville Record Co. to join our other division Copper Lily Records. I do have some big plans in the works that we are going to announce during the Cowboy and sweethearts showcase February 18 19th and 20th at the millennium Maxwell House hotel a sneak peek I’ll tell you we’ve added a PR firm to the label Music Star PR and Road Cats Agency which will assist in bookings and personal appearances and Mgmt also I am very excited about a new award show that we have been asked to participate with.
