Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Mc
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I worked for a TPA for 14 years and was terminated after being off work for a year for medical reasons. I decided I wanted to shift gears in my career and became a realtor in 2020. I started my real estate career during Covid when things were moving incredibly fast. Once the dust settled and interests rates started creeping up, my business got really slow around Fall of 2022. By the beginning of 2023, I was broke. In addition to real estate, I was working a part time job at Belk and acting on the side. What I was bringing in wasn’t enough to maintain my household. Yet God made a way each and every month for my essential bills to be paid. I would love to say this period of time was easy for me because I trusted God and believed all would be well. But truth is, I was struggling in my faith. I’d faced some trials before, but never like this. I threw tantrums better than a 2 year old at the time lol. But each month I watched God work, I softened more and more until I really rested in Him. My faith began to shift to my grandmother’s faith. You know that kinda faith when you know nobody can tell you what God won’t do?!?! Yeah, that faith! In summer of 2023, I started a job as a Sales Counselor for Meritage Homes, a residential builder. Working at Meritage has been a complete game changer for me. Now I get to continue helping people realize their real estate dreams and support my family as well. I am truly grateful for the opportunity I have.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. One thing you notice becoming an entrepreneur is the people you’ve done life with for years will NOT be the people who sustain your business. People you know and love won’t trust you with their biggest investments. Although this is true, coming into real estate during Covid made the business easier. But when the market shifted, it impacted my entire business in a way that I was unable to bounce back from as fast as I needed to. I had buyers who had a desire to purchase, but the increase in home prices and interest rates meant they needed more time to be ready. Unfortunately, I didn’t have that time. My son was counting on me daily. Although I loved the freedom I had in general real estate, I had to pivot into new construction in order to survive. If it was just me, I would’ve stayed in general until it paid off, but I have the sole responsibility of caring for my son so I couldn’t afford to push through at the time.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I currently work as a Sales Counselor for a national builder. I get to help people realize their real estate dreams. I love helping everyone, but it gives me great joy when I get to help first-time homebuyers. I believe owning a home is the first step to building wealth and I want to help as many people as I can get in the game. I am most proud of the moments when I can educate people and support them through their fears of homeownership. And I understand all the fears AND the faith that’s needed to push past those fears as I can now say I am a proud owner of my own home as of December 2024! God is good y’all!! And guess what? Homeownership is attainable for you, too!
I am also learning and growing in my acting career. This is something I never knew I wanted and has brought me so much joy. I’m looking forward to continuing to sharpen my craft.
In everything that I do, what sets me apart from others is my professionalism, integrity, genuineness, and desire to love people more.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is my relationship with God because apart from Him nothing works. It’s what allows me to show up daily as my authentic and genuine self, ready to serve.
