Today we’d like to introduce you to Bailey Shaye
Hi Bailey, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I can’t talk about who I am today without mentioning where I came from. I grew up on an 80-acre horse ranch in southern Oregon, where a self-sufficient lifestyle taught me responsibility and resilience. My dad’s entrepreneurial drive and my mom’s strong work ethic shaped who I am.
I had a childhood I’ll always cherish. My older sister and I were homeschooled and spent most of our time riding horses, either competing in rodeo events or exploring the trails on our property. I also learned skills like driving a tractor, how to work on the ranch truck, and building fires, which I got really good at since a wood stove was our only source of heat.
Being an outdoorswoman is a core part of who I am today and I still love spending time in nature—whether it’s riding horses, hiking with my dog Dutton, hunting, fishing, or working on our family’s wedding venue in Lebanon. While I’ve always had a tomboy side, I’ve also embraced my girly side with makeup, beauty, and fashion.
Two years after high school I decided to follow my older sister, Taylor, to Nashville for better opportunities. Torn between diesel mechanic school and becoming a make up artist, she introduced me to lash extensions since her friend had done hers and owned her own business. At first, I dismissed it, thinking that I couldn’t possibly do something so tedious all day. But she believed in me (and probably wanted free lashes for life haha). So much so that she paid for my first class. I quickly realized I had a natural talent for it, tapping into my artistic side, which had always been part of me whether through art, music, or performing in our family band growing up.
I hustled through beauty school, practicing on anyone willing. Sometimes at 6 a.m. before school and again at 6 p.m. after. All while waitressing part-time at Biscuit Love. That grind set the foundation for where I am today.
After earning my esthetician’s license, I decided to take my lash business out of my house and into the city, renting a room from Karee Hays. Who, to this day, is still my client and now a friend. Building a clientele from scratch, especially in a salon primarily focused on skincare, was challenging. That’s when I met Suzanne Corey. She reached out needing to hire another lash artist as demand for her business, City Lash & Beauty, grew. She took me under her wing, teaching me new techniques and tips. With both of us working hard, and eventually having two locations and a full staff, City Lash thrived and we were honored to win Best of Nashville four years in a row!
After more than six years, it was time for Suzanne to pass the torch. On January 1st, I officially took ownership of City Lash and rebranded it as Shaye Lashes! A dream I’ve had since that very first class when I realized lashing was not only a creative outlet for me but also an opportunity to connect with incredible women and help them feel beautiful and confident.
At Shaye Lashes, we have four incredibly talented lash artists who inspire me to grow as a leader and build a successful business that supports their growth and success. I’m excited to see what the future holds for our studio. I truly feel like I’m living my dream and thank God every day for the many blessings in my life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I don’t think anything worth doing ever is. And when you finally achieve something without facing struggles along the way, can you really appreciate it fully?
A huge struggle for me was moving across the country to a city where I didn’t know anyone. While I lived at my sister’s house, she only spent part of the year in Nashville. Another big challenge was working part-time at Biscuit Love while doing lashes on the side. I ended up getting fired from Biscuit Love when management changed and personalities didn’t click. I was terrified about doing lashes full-time to support myself, but I realized I had no choice but to hustle harder. I wasn’t going to get another job. In the end, getting fired turned out to be the best thing that happened to me—it pushed me to become a better lash artist and fully believe in myself. It showed me that if I put my mind and heart into it, I could do anything.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Shaye Lashes is all about celebrating the strong women of Nashville helping them feel beautiful and confident. We also strive to be an outlet for these women, whether it’s providing a trusted ear or a peaceful place for them to take a lash nap between their busy days. We are passionate about educating clients on lash extensions and maintaining a strong social media presence!
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is the small circle of people I have around me. Life has a funny way of sorting that out, and I firmly believe that you are a reflection of the people you choose to associate with. It’s so important to surround yourself with good, hardworking, and supportive individuals who genuinely want the best for you. I am incredibly grateful for the friends and family in my life who love and support me unconditionally. And of course, I can’t forget my dog, Dutton, who’s always by my side and brings so much joy to my life!
