Hi nollimerrighi@gmail.com, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The band, originally named Chaparrall adopted the name Nolli Brothers.in 2018, is a Brazilian country band acting in this segment since 1997. The band gathers the influence of modern country with Brazilian sounds, instruments and
influences. Nolli Merrighi (lead singer), Marquito (acoustic guitar, dobro, banjo, viola and mandolim) e Didi Xavier(eletric/acoustic guitar and samples).
The band’s history merges with the explosion of country music in Brazil in the 90s when the New Country took over
Brazilian grounds thanks to artists like Shania Twain,Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Faith Hill, George Strait,among others.
Inspired by this new musical movement Nolli Brothers was created. The band quickly took over the musical scene
and was one of the first groups to release a country music album in portuguese entitled “Vento” (Wind, in English), which led to their first label contract with Abril Music Record. It’s main single “Caso Marcado” was a smash hit on the radio and the band became a revelation at Barretos collection Cd, the biggest and most important Rodeo not only in Brazil but in the world. The song was recorded by several famous artists and became a number one hit in Brazil .
In 2011, Nolli Brothers went to Nashville to record a CD and DVD at the Blackbird and Ocean Way Studios. The band
worked with professionals such as Steve Marcantonio, Pat MacMakin and video producer Kenny Jackson. The DVD
was released by the label Deck Disc and is available at Prime Video and YouTube
In 2018, the band received an invitation from the label Spotlight Records to record their first country single in
English. Challenge accepted, “Make it on our own” was released and entered the HOT TRACKS Country on
American I-Tunes, opening the doors to a new endeavor in English aiming at reaching a global audience..
In 2022, the Nolli Brothers’ new album entitled Everglow was released. It’s production and recording began in 2021
at the band’s studios. “What Happens Now” and”Everglow” were the first songs released .
In 2023 NOLLI BROTHERS kicked of the year celebrating the release of their second single and videoclip in English, “Cowboy Run” .
“Cowboy run is a reference to American Country, but with Brazilian roots. The song features a striking guitar riff along with the banjo, surprising at the end where a Funk beat provides the background for an unexpected Rap.”
This release solidifies the band’s intrinsic connection to blending country music with their Brazilian roots, showcasing and promoting the genre beyond any boundaries.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

When country music exploded in Brazil in the 2000s, and we were at the forefront, everything felt like a dream! We released our first country album in Portuguese; people in Brazil were embracing country music, our songs were played on the radio, and we were signed to the best record label in the country! We couldn’t have asked for anything more.

It seemed like we were living every musician and band’s ultimate dream, with packed schedules and sold-out shows. Truly, it couldn’t have been better. It felt as if country music had made a permanent home in Brazil.

However, things didn’t quite turn out that way. Suddenly, radio stations stopped playing country music, TV programs ceased promoting the genre, and country music was forgotten in Brazil in a way I can hardly explain.

The band remained steadfast for years, waving the flag of country music in the nation along with many other bands spread across the country in an incessant attempt to revive the genre.

When streaming platforms emerged, surprisingly, they continued to view country music as a secondary genre. For example, country bands were often excluded from the country music section. This is due to the platforms’ claim that no country work is being done in Brazil, which is a gross misconception. There are hundreds of incredible bands that deserve visibility.

In recent years, country music has been making a comeback in Brazil, thanks to the efforts of regional bands, the success of American bands across the globe, and the globalization of the genre.
There’s still a lot of work to be done and many obstacles to overcome, but we’re here, instruments in hand, ready for whatever comes our way.

We Make Country Music WITH a Brazilian flavor!

What sets us apart is our unique fusion of traditional country elements with our Brazilian roots, creating a sound that is both authentic and innovative. By incorporating Brazilian rhythms and cultural influences, we offer a fresh perspective to the genre that resonates with both local and international audiences. Additionally, our passion and dedication over the years to keep country music alive in Brazil have made us pioneers in this genre revival. We are also expanding our horizons by composing in English, allowing our music to transcend geographical boundaries and reach new audiences.

Besides, we are a “do-it-all” band—responsible for recording, editing, and producing not only our music but also our music videos. We built our audio and video studios ourselves, allowing us to be involved in every aspect of our project from A to Z. We’re not a band that waits for things to happen; we’re constantly on the move, always seeking something new. This combination of cultural authenticity, hands-on involvement, and international ambition is what truly distinguishes us and makes our music special.

Working with country music in Brazil can be a solitary journey. For many years, we were the sole reference for the genre in our state, which led us to seek learning and inspiration from the great country artists and the elements that musically resonated with our Brazilian essence to shape our identity.

Our first country album in Portuguese (2001) emerged from valuable collaborations with songwriters who embraced our vision. The most crucial aspect for the success of this album was bringing the language of country music into the Brazilian lifestyle, becoming an essential pillar in the dissemination of the genre on radio stations and at events.

Today, we see a flourishing country scene in our city and state, with several amazing bands alongside us. These partnerships have been fundamental in compositions, performances, and collaborative projects aimed at promoting the genre. These connections are vital for our country community, expanding the space and visibility on radio, television, and festivals—something we have witnessed robustly growing in recent years.

Now, what really makes a diference AND is a great opportunity is being a CMA member. We were absolutely thrilled to be accepted into such an influential community for country music. Being part of an environment where you can exchange ideas, meet people from around the world with the same goals, and enjoy all the privileges of a CMA member is priceless!

In 2023, we attended the CMA Fest for the first time, and it was a wonderful adventure. As members, we received tremendous support from the association in various aspects whenever we requested it. Their team is amazing. This year, we applied to perform at the event and are very excited to find out if we’ll be selected! It would be a great honor for us to represent our country at the largest country festival on planet Earth!
