Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Weaver
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Black Sheep Logistics: No Shortcuts, No Excuses, Just Results
The Road Less Traveled (Literally and Figuratively)
Black Sheep Logistics didn’t start as a logistics company—it started in a metal fabrication shop. But like any smart business, we adapted to a need. One particular customer had an issue, and instead of ignoring it, we solved it. That one delivery turned into another, and soon, we realized there was a huge gap in the market for a reliable, no-nonsense courier and logistics service. So, we pivoted, put in the work, and built Black Sheep Logistics into what it is today.
Pricing & Value: What Clients Can Expect
We don’t believe in overcomplicating things. Our pricing is fair, transparent, and based on the job. Some deliveries are as simple as getting documents across town; others involve carefully securing cargo that can’t afford to be delayed. Every job is different, and that’s why we custom quote every job to make sure our clients get the best possible service at a competitive rate.
The bottom line? You’re paying for reliability, speed, and peace of mind.
What’s Next for Black Sheep Logistics?
We started this company with the dream of building something that lasts—something that our grandchildren can look at and see the work ethic, the sweat, and the determination that built it.
The growth has already gone beyond what we expected, but we’re nowhere near done. We want to be the leader in courier services in this area. Whether it’s urgent legal papers that need to get across town, cupcakes that need to be at the school before the bell rings, or that brand-new tractor that needs to be delivered to its new home—we’re the ones to call.
Black Sheep Logistics isn’t just a business. It’s a legacy in the making.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The Grind: What They Don’t Tell You About Running a Logistics Business
Nobody tells you how hard it is to keep the right employees on the road. That’s been one of the biggest challenges—finding and keeping drivers who match our work ethic. The job isn’t easy, and the people who thrive here understand that.
In the last year, we added a new service that changed everything: transporting life-saving organs and medical samples. These deliveries don’t come with a schedule—they come at all hours of the day and night, and failure is not an option. At first, I handled every one of these personally. I had to. I needed to know every detail—how to work with hospital security, how to coordinate with airports, and how to ensure zero delays. Eventually, as the calls started overlapping and my phone never stopped ringing, I knew I had to train someone else. That was its own challenge. Trusting someone else with cargo that literally determines life or death isn’t easy. But now, we have a team that gets it and gets it done.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What Sets Black Sheep Logistics Apart?
We’re small, family-owned, and built from the ground up. There’s no corporate fluff or endless red tape here. Just a team that works hard, delivers on promises, and takes every job seriously—whether it’s payroll, steel, cable spools, or a human heart that needs to be on the next plane out.
Clients stick with us because of the no-excuses attitude we bring to every job. There was no easy path laid out for us. We forged our own. And we’ll keep forging ahead, growing, and making sure that every package, every delivery, and every customer gets the best service possible.
At the end of the day, this isn’t just a business—it’s family. And family takes care of each other.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Lessons from the Covid-19 Crisis
If Covid taught us anything, it’s that being adaptable is non-negotiable. The supply chain was a mess, businesses were scrambling, and a lot of companies folded under the pressure. But at Black Sheep Logistics, we don’t back down when things get tough—we pivot, we grind, and we figure it out.
During the pandemic, we saw firsthand that reliability in logistics isn’t just important—it’s critical. We doubled down on making sure our clients could count on us, no matter what. When other companies were cutting back, we leaned in, expanding our services and finding new ways to get things where they needed to go, on time, every time.
