Today we’d like to introduce you to La’shay Lovelace
Hi La’Shay , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Creative Arts has been instilled in me since childhood. From painting and sewing to music, each has inspired me to become the Creative woman I am today. Since graduating high school, I went to college to major in Art which quickly turned into Philosophy. I then became inspired to spread words of wisdom, love and encouragement as a result of the things I’ve seen and the life I’ve experienced. So I thought, what better way to do something I love and to inspire other people, than by turning my love for art and philosophy into a clothing brand. In.Real.Life. Apparel LLC has been a thing since 2016.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been an easy path, but anything worth having is worth fighting for, and I definitely believe my brand is worth sharing with the world. Honestly, I think my primary struggles were consistency and confidence. I believe these two factors are major in having a successful business. For me, Life got in the way of what was most important to me. Getting in your own way is definitely a valid obstacle to overcome.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Professionally, I have been Active Duty in the United States Navy for about 7 years now. I am most proud of myself for being myself, and creating my creative outlet to satisfy my passions, while simultaneously serving my country. What sets me apart is my brand and the messages I want to convey. In.Real.Life. Apparel acknowledges that we all have different perspectives in life and this is something that should be not only accepted but appreciated. If we can recognize this and make the most of it, that’s the essence of what my brand stands for and I’m excited to see it continue to grow.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice is to be yourself. Never stop asking questions. Set realistic goals and complete those goals one step at a time. One thing I have to remind myself as a business-woman is that I am on my own time. Once everything is planned accordingly, you then will be able to give your best products to potential consumers before they even knew they wanted or needed it.
