Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Moore

Hi Rachel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up right outside of Nashville in a family where the creative arts were encouraged. I studied classical violin and dabbled in dance and theater before settling on photography. Photography quickly became my creative outlet and the way I processed the world around me and responded to beauty. I was told in my teens that I had an eye for it, so I went into college to study photography. My decision was solidified as soon as I took step in a darkroom. Learning about the history of photography alongside the art and process of film was so inspiring to me. I spent the next few years learning, assisting other photographers through mentorships, learning from trial and error and building my portfolio.

I started my photography business in 2009 right after graduating college. Over the past 15 years I have photographed hundreds of weddings and families and consider it the greatest privilege to walk alongside couples planning weddings and starting their families. It’s been the biggest blessing.

One of my late mentors said that “photography helps us remember how beautiful the world is, because sometimes we seem to forget.”

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The pandemic definitely affected the wedding industry, downsizing and rescheduling events for a couple of years. With weddings on pause, I decided to diversify my business offerings and started specializing in offering framed prints and heirloom-quality photo albums to my portrait clients. I taught myself how to design gallery walls and install them for clients. It helped diversify my income while more fully serving my clients. Now, my business is 50/50 wedding clients and portrait clients + products and it’s a wonderful balance.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a wedding and portrait photographer of 15 years. I offer peace of mind to those planning for a wedding or planning to grow their family because I’ve been there! I come alongside my clients and help document these special and sacred seasons of life. I use a unique blend of digital and film photography to create work that feels natural, warm and joyful. I offer custom framed prints and photo albums to ensure that they can enjoy their photos in their lives, on their walls for years to come.

How do you think about luck?
I believe in trusting God’s plan for my life. I see this opportunity to have meaningful work to do and be able to have a family as such a blessing and a pure gift and provision from him. My mission is to find what is true, good and beautiful in every day and in everyone I photograph.
