Daily Inspiration: Meet Duplexity

Today we’d like to introduce you to Duplexity

DUPLEXITY, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We are siblings who began our journey in the entertainment industry at the ages of 5 and 6 as child actors. Savannah, who has had a passion for songwriting since she was just 7 years old, has always dreamed of being an artist. To nurture that dream, our parents enrolled us at the local School of Rock.

After spending a few years at School of Rock, we felt the urge to take on starting a band of our own. We, with friends from our neighborhood, formed a band, and had our very first performance outside of the School Of Rock setting. That night was a pivotal moment for us; it ignited a spark that led us to realize we wanted to create music together as a duo. And so, DUPLEXITY was born. Shortly thereafter, we stepped into the studio and recorded our first ten original songs.

Since the release of our music, we have had the privilege of performing across Los Angeles, up and down the iconic Sunset Strip, playing in New York City multiple times, as well as at renowned venues like the House of Blues in Anaheim and Houston, among many others. In the first year since we released our debut EP “Billboards, we made three music videos and performed in 3 states, 9 cites and more than 20 shows.

In 2024, we entered the Rolling Stone “Americans Next Top Hitmaker” competition, proudly emerging as the winners. This incredible opportunity, in partnership with Music Cares and Colossal, raised an impressive $2.1 million for Music Cares. We were honored to be featured in the 2024 issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, and we look forward to representing our title and performing at the Rolling Stone Future Of Music stage this March 11th at SXSW, among other various appearances as part of this exciting recognition.

As DUPLEXITY, we draw inspiration from our diverse musical background and personal experiences, blending genres to create a unique sound that resonates with our audience. Our songs explore themes of love, resilience, and self-discovery, reflecting our journey as siblings and artists.

We are excited to continue writing and recording new music, with plans to release our next single “Not Today” on the same day we perform at SXSW. in Austin, Tx.

We are excited for the future, and committed to growing as artists and making a meaningful impact in the music industry. We can’t wait for what lies ahead and are grateful for the support we have received from our family, friends, and fans along the way. Stay tuned for more updates on our journey, and we hope to see you at our upcoming shows!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The music industry can be a challenging path to navigate, but we feel incredibly fortunate that our years as child actors have instilled in us a strong work ethic and resilience. There are many parallels between acting and being an artist; both require a deep passion for your craft, and not everyone will perceive your art in the same way you do. While we encounter our share of critics, we are grateful for the many fans who support us on this journey.

If we had to pinpoint our biggest struggle, it would be mastering time management. There never seems to be enough hours in the day to juggle practice, songwriting, recording, social media responsibilities, performances, college and all the other life tasks. Music is the center of our lives, and we often find ourselves fully immersed in it. However, we also recognize that life encompasses more than just music, and finding that balance can be a real challenge.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Our genre is pop rock, and we recently had the opportunity to record four new songs in Nashville. This experience marked a significant turning point for us professionally. Collaborating and being surrounded by such talented musicians inspired us in new and exciting ways. We are eager to release this new music, as it represents a new chapter in our artistic journey. We like to think of it as a return to our roots, infused with elements of southern rock to enhance our sound.

How do you think about luck?
We don’t really believe in luck we believe luck is created by things you set in motion. One of our fav quotes is “the harder I work the more luck I seem to have” – Thomas Jefferson. We even have a mug in our house that has the quote on it. We work really hard everyday building our skills and doing all the tasks to launch our band, Therefore, we are pretty lucky.
