Today we’d like to introduce you to Janelle Arthur
Hi Janelle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from a small town in East TN. I loved music, singing, dancing and acting from a very early age. I got my start singing in Pigeon Forge when I was only 8yrs old, portraying a young Dolly Parton in a production about her life. I went on to perform in other shows and theatres in Pigeon Forge, like Country Tonite, which originated in Las Vegas. I gained 12yrs of experience before moving to Nashville to pursue songwriting. After the move, I let my family talk me into auditioning for American Idol which eventually landed me in the top 5 on the show. The exposure on American Idol got me an invitation to perform on the Grand Ole Opry. Throughout the years, I have had the blessing of going on a few different tours all over the world and have met so many incredible people. Music has even opened doors for me in the acting world. Getting to star in two, family-friendly movies (Runnin’ From My Roots and Five Date Rule) had been a dream of mine for a long time. Thanks to God, my family and music, I have lived a life I am forever grateful for.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road as the entertainment industry can be a roller coaster. There are extreme highs and very low lows. There are politics in every profession, but the entertainment business can be an extremely political. Those are what I would consider to be the external struggles. The internal struggle is trying to continue to believe in yourself and your abilities when others do not. It is something every artist has to push through. I encourage anyone pursuing this profession to stay positive and believe in what you know to be true. I am very thankful for my faith as it has given me the perspective I have needed throughout my career.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am most proud of getting to use my platform to help people. I hope my journey will be proof that you can achieve success while staying true to who you are and leading with kindness.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Being passionate about art and people.
