Meet Karalyne Winegarner of East Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karalyne Winegarner

Hi Karalyne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Flight Attendant began as a way to blow off steam after long bartending shifts. Singer Karalyne Winegarner and guitarist Vincent Maniscalco worked together at 5th & Taylor, a restaurant in Nashville, and would head to a nearby apartment garage after shifts to jam. The sessions grew, and soon Nikki Christie joined on viola, followed by Derek Sprague on drums and Peyton Rodeffer on bass.

In 2020, the band began recording their first album. As they released singles, they started gaining traction in Germany, where their music video for **”Man of Chaos”** landed on MTV Berlin. This exposure led to their first real tour in 2022, which took them across Germany.

Three years later, still independently managed and self-recorded, the band has released their second album, **”Under The Powerlines.”** The record has received airplay on over 300 stations, amassed over a million views across social media, and surpassed 100K Spotify streams. Now, Flight Attendant is gearing up for their third self-funded, self-managed headlining European tour this spring—and they can’t wait to see what’s next.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Flight Attendant has faced countless financial and mental challenges, tackling each one with resilience and determination. Someone once said, “Success takes hard work. Great success takes luck.” I believe we’ve achieved measurable success through sheer effort, but we’re all hoping, praying, and positioning ourselves to be ready for that stroke of luck—the one that could take us from success to great success.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Flight Attendant is a five-piece indie pop band based in Nashville, TN, with members from across the U.S.—Boston, Indiana, Kansas, and Los Angeles. A patchwork of personalities, opinions, and cultures, their diverse backgrounds shape their distinctive sound. Rolling Stone praised them for “delivering a performance,” while Glide Magazine compared singer Karalyne Winegarner’s commanding presence to “Freddie Mercury working the crowd in an arena.” At their core, Flight Attendant is a rock band—a damn good one—poised for that stroke of luck to launch them to the next level.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What Matters? Creating art. Like a shark needs to swim – we need to create. If we can pour our energy, talents, and the unique positions we hold in life into what we do best, then maybe, just maybe, we can help tip the scales of the universe a little closer to balance.
