Conversations with Scarlet Tantrum

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scarlet Tantrum

Hi Scarlet, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been singing basically since I was born. As a kid I would go through so many phases of interests like basketball, sewing, but music was always there and it always spoke to me. Growing up I was very shy and I had terrible stage fright. Being so terrified of peoples opinions really held me back from shooting for the stars and pursuing my dreams. Until one day my mind set changed and I realized I needed to do music. It’s been two years since I’ve been chasing my dreams and I’m the happiest I’ve ever been getting to share my experiences and connecting with people through my songwriting.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think the biggest struggle/challenge of pursuing music has been learning that not everyone is going to like me and my music and that I can’t please everyone with what I do with my career. Being scared of people’s opinions held me back from pursuing my dreams and it’s still something I struggle with to this day. I think a lot of the bumps in the road have just been from the mental battle with myself of building thicker skin, putting myself out there, and knowing that as long as I’m being authentic to myself and my music that’s what matters.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an Alternative Pop Artist and I take the most pride in my music. It has been said that I’m good at taking very deep and dark situations/meanings and putting it into a catchy ear-worm melody. A lot of the songs I write are inspired by the real things I go through. My music has become a voice for myself as well as other people who feel feel unheard. One thing that sets me apart from others are my visuals. I work really hard to have cool visuals for my cover art and music videos and every detail is intentional to add to the look all while being DIY. For Example, my latest single that dropped Feb 28th “SAVE ME FROM MYSELF” is about self destructive behavior. When I did the photoshoot I found an old mental hospital to get the promo photos. The location and the song just tied perfectly together. I used tire chains to wrap all over my body. The chains represent the bad self destructive behaviors that I feel like I can’t get away from. I am super proud of how the photoshoot came out and everything from the makeup, hair, outfit, made the visuals look so insane!!

Any big plans?
As of right now I go back and forth living in NC and Nashville. I plan to permanently move to Nashville in the future and work on writing and recording more records. I’m currently working on releasing more music this year and would love to tour with other artists!
