Conversations with Danielle Mock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Mock

Hi Danielle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
“My styling journey began early in life. I was fortunate to have a hardworking mother who let me do her hair and makeup for work each day. Unbeknownst to me at the time, this was the start of associating styling with helping people feel good and look their best.
After high school, I enrolled as a Theatre student at Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania in 2004. There, I learned about theatrical special effects, stage makeup, performance, and, most importantly, thinking on my feet when the show must go on—a skill that proved invaluable later in life.
In 2008, I moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where I continued my styling education and earned my Esthetician’s License, gaining experience in spa and salon work. This eventually led me to become one of Pittsburgh’s top freelance makeup artists, working on commercials, photoshoots, TV, private clients, and film projects.
While in Pittsburgh, I built my clientele and traveled across the United States for makeup work. During this time, I spent years in television and production, broadening my expertise across various facets of makeup artistry.
In pursuit of personal growth, I also embarked on a path of wellness and mindfulness. I attended retreats and classes to enhance my own well-being, which deepened my understanding of how to support my clients. I studied Qi Gong, Reiki, and sound healing, driven by a desire to help my clients feel their best, not just look their best.
In 2024, my journey brought me and my family to Nashville, Tennessee. My fiancé, Justin Loose, works in country music, and we were eager to expand and plant new roots. Today, I’m a traveling makeup artist specializing in both glamour and wellness, with sound healing as a personal strength I now offer to my clients.
Everyone deserves to look and feel their best, especially for life’s big moments. Whether you’re preparing to perform on stage and need to ‘tune in’ to your body or getting married and want the perfect bridal look, I’m here to help you shine inside and out.”

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. As a mother and business owner, I’ve wrestled with work-life balance.
In 2020, I was on track for my highest-earning year yet, with thrilling gigs lined up—until they vanished. Like many, I felt the sting, but our industry didn’t just stumble; it crashed in Pittsburgh. Recovery took years, both financially and emotionally. Still, I didn’t let it stall me. I kept growing, pushing myself to master new skills.
The makeup community can be brutal—I’ve seen its claws. But instead of turning bitter, I flipped the script. I mentor young artists, offering the support I once craved. My mission? To elevate others and make them feel seen and heard.”

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a traveling Makeup Artist and Hair stylist. Specializing in commercial, television, production, private clients and wellness.

I also teach mindful workshops for personal growth and encouragement. Combining both these things into what I call, Mindful Beauty.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Supporting your community will always create a fruitful path.
