From a Vision to a Global Impact: The Beautiful Spirited Women Story

Fifteen years ago, I started Beautiful Spirited Women with a simple but powerful mission—to create a safe space where girls could grow, be empowered, and break cycles of poverty and hardship. What started as a small initiative quickly gained momentum, evolving into a movement that has now impacted over 65,000 girls worldwide.

Through mentorship, one-on-one coaching, STEM workshops, life skills training, and transformative events, we have helped shape confident, educated, and driven young women. We’ve stood in the gap, ensuring no girl feels unseen or unsupported.

Today, Beautiful Spirited Women proudly operates 14 serving chapters across the world, including right here in Nashville, Tennessee. Our growth and success have been fueled by strategic partnerships with incredible organizations, including the Nashville Predators, Tennessee Titans, and Period Poverty Achieve Her—just a few of the many who believe in our mission.

What began as a heartfelt passion has flourished into a global sisterhood, proving that when women and girls are uplifted, entire communities thrive. And we’re just getting started.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Building Beautiful Spirited Women into what it is today has come with its fair share of challenges. One of the biggest hurdles has been lack of funding—securing financial support to keep our programs running and expanding has always been a pressing concern.

Additionally, finding dedicated and active board members has been another challenge. While many people support the mission, having committed individuals who are willing to consistently show up, make decisions, and help push the organization forward has been difficult.

We’ve also faced limited resources when it comes to providing for the girls we serve. From program materials to event spaces, we’ve often had to get creative and stretch what we have to ensure our impact remains strong.

Beyond that, overall operational support has been a struggle. Running a nonprofit isn’t just about having a vision—it requires behind-the-scenes work like grant writing, administrative assistance, and day-to-day management, which can be overwhelming without the proper help. Not having the proper funding to hire a full-time staff has made it even more difficult to delegate tasks, streamline operations, and expand our reach in the way we envision.

Additionally, receiving assistance in our Leadership Cohort has been another obstacle. While we are committed to developing strong leaders within BSW, finding the right support and resources to sustain and grow this program has been a challenge.

Despite these obstacles, we have never stopped pushing forward. Every challenge has only fueled our determination to ensure that young girls—especially those in low-income areas—receive the mentorship, education, and opportunities they deserve. Through resilience, community support, and unwavering faith in our mission, Beautiful Spirited Women continues to grow and make a lasting impact.

What makes you happy?
What truly makes me happy is seeing women who are passionate about coming together to uplift our younger generation through a beautiful sisterhood. There is something powerful about women supporting women—when we stand together, we create an unbreakable bond that transforms lives. Watching strong, dedicated women unite with a shared purpose, mentoring, guiding, and inspiring young girls, brings me an immense sense of joy and fulfillment.

I also find deep happiness in seeing the girls and women in need receive assistance from us in a positive, safe environment. Knowing that Beautiful Spirited Women provides a safe haven where young girls can grow, heal, and thrive fills my heart. When I see a girl walk into our program uncertain of her future but leave empowered, confident, and ready to take on the world, I know that our work is making a real difference.
