Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Harbison

Hi Destiny, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up I was always fascinated with photography! I used to spend my allowance on little point and shoot film cameras, and when I was 8 I begged for a digital camera for Christmas. That was where it all started. Just like everyone else, I thought college was the way to go, and I obtained a nursing degree. Although I still work occasionally as a nurse, my full-time job is wedding photography! I often serve Tennessee, North Alabama, and other surrounding areas!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t feel like it was a smooth road actually! After obtaining my nursing degree, my first job was a NIGHTMARE! I was miserable every single day, and I finally sat down and thought to myself “what can you do to replace this income and be happy?” That’s when I decided photography was worth a shot! I worked countless overtime hours to afford a reliable camera, and start the process of getting things in order for my business. If it were not for my husband pushing me towards it I would have never picked up a camera in the first place!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in film (like the old school kind.) I shoot 35mm, 120mm, and 4×5 film. Over the years, my husband and I have worked incredibly hard to perfect the art of film, and it has been so much fun! At every wedding we shoot both digital and film, and work towards a documentary approach. We are known for capturing digital and film photos that LOOK and FEEL like YOU.
