Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Blanco
Hi Josh, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We (DUCKY NEPTUNE) are releasing a single JUNE 7th
FALSE IDOLS
In our last conversation I mentioned recording LP ‘Insensitive Plastic’
It seems like fate that you’ve reached back out!
We are taking on a new approach to our music releases. We are making shorter 2 day trips down to Muscle Shoals to record with our friend, engineer and producer Spencer Coates.
Then as we finish songs we are going to release them all, one by one, as singles. No third party PR company, no publishing. If we pick something up along the way you’ll know we really believe in them.
If you have any questions at all, we are an open book. [email protected]
Booking! Press! Management! Sync!
All to that email… [email protected]
Please don’t forget! Go stream it, add it to your playlist. Download the cover art! Put it on a coffee cup.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We have been in a writing/jamming phase. Now we are in the tightening phase of composition. Transitioning from one head space to another is always difficult. Now it’s not looking for the right notes. But going into the studio and playing all the right notes. Not missing a beat. On top of that you want to maintain the vision you walked into the studio with, while simultaneously being open to changing direction when/if ideas or inspiration guides you else where.
Then on the back end of things, we are not using a PR company. We plan on promoting a slew of singles. All functions in house? Talk about a struggle. A lot of trial and error here but we are learning. We are also keeping faith that listeners will keep sharing our story. Ducky Neptune will always be
Truth in Poetry.
Wholesome in sound.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Just listen to the music! All the answers regarding us can be found in the songs. And if there’s more questions Don’t worry, there’s more music coming.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Got to risk it to get the the biscuit. Sharing songs is the most risky thing we do. But it’s the function of the band and really the whole point for us.
We put our hearts on our sleeves. We show up, not to impress you but to express ourselves. That comes at the risk of embarrassment which can lead to shame, depression so on and so fourth. Not so much a feeling of imposter syndrome but of genuine inadequacy.
The thought that we are not “good” enough to achieve our dreams can be debilitating. Or even the thought that our expression/music/poetry is not justifiable by our culture. That kind of thing leads artists down bad bad roads.
Luckily, after performance and record releases we feel reassured that we are on the right path. It’s that good ol’ risk reward relationship.
