Conversations with Sarah Gibson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Gibson

Hi Sarah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
From a young age, I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit—it’s simply in my DNA. My very first business venture? Sock dolls. Yes, that’s right – sock dolls. At just nine years old, I discovered a love for sewing and began crafting small animal-like dolls from clean, brand-new socks. With a little creativity and a lot of determination, I started selling them to the neighborhood kids for $15 each, even taking custom orders. Looking back, that small endeavor was just the beginning of a lifelong passion for creating, building, and turning ideas into reality.

By the time I was eleven, my entrepreneurial drive had expanded beyond sock dolls—I was designing my own clothing. For my fifth-grade graduation, I hand-sewed a long, flowy powder-blue dress with delicate thin straps and a matching shawl. I still remember how proud I felt wearing something I had made with my own two hands. Also, I made my Halloween costumes. (I will attach an image of one Halloween costume where I was “Hamburger Queen” … my sister is judging me hard in the picture! Ha!)

As I entered middle school, my interests shifted, and I found myself completely immersed in music. I joined the school band and played the alto saxophone, which quickly became a passion that connected me deeply with my parents. My father, a Berklee College of Music graduate, and my mother, a talented first-chair clarinetist and saxophonist, instilled in me a love for music that would stay with me for life. (I will attach a photo of me with my saxophone.)

One thing I’ve learned about myself over the years is that I’m an “all-in” kind of person. When I dedicate myself to something, I pour every ounce of energy, time, and focus into it. While I may shift my primary focus over time, my passion for past endeavors never fades. That’s how I’ve come to learn seven different instruments, design custom dresses, train in Muay Thai, create and sell music paintings, and—most importantly—find my passion for real estate.

Right now, my primary focus is real estate. I’m in an era of relentless learning, soaking up as much knowledge as possible through books, mentorship, and hands-on experience. Some of my recent reads include Rich Dad Poor Dad and Trump: The Art of the Deal, and I have Think and Grow Rich and The E-Myth queued up next. I believe that knowledge is the key to success—it’s rarely a lack of ability that holds people back, but rather a lack of knowledge. That’s why I never look down on anyone for not knowing something; instead, I celebrate those who are eager to learn and grow.

To me, success isn’t about standing alone at the top—it’s about collaboration, lifting others up, and creating opportunities where everyone wins. Too often, people operate with the mindset that in order to succeed, others must stay below them. But in reality, true success happens when we work together, support one another, and push each other toward greatness.

As I look ahead to 2025, I’m excited for all the collaborations and opportunities that lie ahead in real estate. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not necessarily. It took years to find the right venture that truly aligned with who I am. But through all the twists and turns, real estate has proven to be the space where I can fully be myself—where my values shine the most when I’m put to the test.

The journey has been anything but predictable. Just when I think I have a solid grip, something shifts. But instead of seeing change as an obstacle, I’ve learned to use it to my advantage. I trust my instincts, listen to my gut, and navigate uncertainty with confidence.

Anyone who claims to know exactly how their life will unfold is either not being completely honest or possesses a kind of foresight I can only envy. If I had a roadmap, maybe I could plan ahead, but at this point in my life, I’ve embraced going with the flow and staying present in the moment. It’s not that the road has been unbearably tough—it just hasn’t been easy. But the way I see it, perspective is everything, and no challenge has broken me yet.

I’ve realized that no matter what comes my way, I can handle it. I have an unshakable drive to succeed, a fire inside me that pushes me forward no matter the circumstances. More than personal success, I want to uplift those around me, make an impact, and enhance the lives of others.

I don’t expect the road ahead to be smooth, but that’s what makes the journey worth it. And luckily, I’m ready to take on every rocky path with the all-terrain vehicle of my mind.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a real estate entrepreneur with a passion for helping people find their perfect home, sell their current one, or discover incredible investment opportunities. Beyond traditional real estate, I am expanding into development with my company, Music City Manors, with the vision of building luxury homes in Nashville and Middle Tennessee.

What truly sets me apart is my deep connection to the community. Real estate isn’t just about properties—it’s about people. I love hearing their stories, understanding their dreams, and being part of their journey. Whether it’s guiding a first-time homebuyer, helping a family transition into a new chapter, or working with investors to maximize their returns, I bring dedication, expertise, and heart to every transaction.

I take immense pride in the relationships I build and the impact I make. Real estate has not only given me a career I love, but it has also allowed me to connect with incredible people who have truly brightened my life. As I continue to grow in this industry, my goal remains the same—to help others succeed, create dream homes, and develop properties that elevate Nashville’s real estate landscape.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
One of the best ways to find a mentor and expand your network is to get involved in groups that align with your interests and goals. For me, I joined a Women’s Business Association, which has been an incredible space for connecting with driven, supportive women. I truly value women empowering other women, especially in business, and being part of this group has introduced me to so many wonderful and insightful individuals who have shared their journeys and advice.

I also became a member of REIN (Real Estate Investors Network), where I’ve built connections with realtors, investors, and like-minded professionals. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to grow in your industry, surrounding yourself with people who share your passion and drive can make all the difference.

My biggest piece of advice? Start with groups that genuinely interest you. As you build relationships, you’ll naturally be introduced to more opportunities and people within their networks. Say yes to invites, attend events, and put yourself out there—you never know who you’ll meet and what doors it will open!
