Today we’d like to introduce you to DARKROSE
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is DARKROSE & I’m an artist from Nashville Tennessee. I started going to the studio around the age of 15. I knew I wanted to make music but the purpose was mostly to vent. I feel at the time I had so much on my mind I just needed to release. Music was a source for my release. I fell in love with the art of creating songs . I’d like to specify by songs in general it didn’t have to be a rap . I’ve made love, r&b, Indie folk , country, punk rock, alternative rock you name it. I got to where I am by being delusional and in some ways you have to. Can you imagine working for a career you want to exist without any actual proof that it’s even possible. It’s like playing the lottery when you don’t understand numbers. It took hard work, consistency, luck , and blessings to get where I am today. I worked on making songs in the studio for years before I released a song and when I did I still have thousands of songs unreleased. I was more so perfecting my craft and bettering myself. I wanted to be better than myself. I realized my songs had a strong impact when I received dms from people expressing how my music affected them. I kept releasing music trying to make the songs better than the last. In 2021 I released an album that changed everything. I wish I could say it’s a blueprint but I’m a strong believer in manifestation. If you work for it and pray ;with luck you will achieve what you are working for. It’s the rules of the universe to me . I’m currently at 55 million streams now. I’m doing shows and have tours upcoming. I even have plaques. I’m from music city (Nashville)so in a way I just feel like this was meant to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. There are ups and downs. It all comes with being a musician tho. It comes with being independent. Most artists have huge labels pushing them and machines that help them get streams . I don’t have that it’s just the support of the fans. It only makes everything even more special to me. Anything funding til now has been out of pocket my whole career. Music videos, recording , the image and everything was provided by me and the people I’ve had around me. It’s hard dealing with life while pursuing music because you can get into your head about a lot of things. I’ve also had to deal with deaths in the family. I’ve lost my meemaw, my paw paw is fighting cancer, I’ve lost friends to car accidents and just being in the wrong places at the wrong time. I lost my uncle to alcoholism and I still persist with trying to take care of my family and myself at the same time. This has not been a smooth road but I’ll always persist because I’ve made it this far and I still have ways to go. Until I change the lives of my family and reach the success I want to personally I can’t stop.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an artist or a musical creative I like to say. I like making music and I do it professionally. I am also a songwriter and I’m hands on when it comes to visuals or music video ideas. I’m known for being an artist by the Name of DARKROSE & the song “ Love Is Beautifully Painful “ along with various others. I’m most proud of getting a plaque for my song with over 30 million streams independently. I’m proud of my success & it’s all because of my fans and supporters. I think what sets me apart from others is being vulnerable in my music. I say how I feel and I express myself in ways so many people can connect. I don’t make music to please the masses or anything it’s something I love to do. I think that sets me apart from others. I’m genuine with what I do. I want to make timeless music. I want to make something you can truly feel.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Covid taught me how to be a businessman. I learned how to venture in more professions while doing music like crypto and investing in a business. When I couldn’t do shows I had to find other ways to keep my income coming. It was also a wake up call to enjoy life and the freedoms we have. I definitely learned to cherish things and people more. It was a scary experience for us all I think.
