Check Out Tina Parol’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Parol

Hi Tina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My parents are immigrants from Poland. I was born in America, but grew up speaking Polish, which I still do! I was diagnosed with scoliosis around age 8 and wore a back brace until I was 16. As a way to cope with my back pain, I started writing songs around age 8. I absolutely fell in love with it. My age 12, I was begging my mother to let me record demos in my upstate NY hometown. By age 14, I was taking trips with my parents to NYC to write and record songs. By age 16, I signed my first publishing deal and moved to NYC. At 18, I attended NYU’s Clive Davis Department to study recorded music before signing a record deal with Universal Motown Records during my freshman year of college. I released a Billboard Pop hit called “Who’s Got Your Money?” and got to tour the whole country. It was amazing. After a few years promoting my music on the road, I decided to head to the songwriting capital of the world: Nashville, Tennessee. I’ve lived in Nashville for 13 years now and it’s my home. I always say I now have a home and a hometown. I’ve gratefully written songs for Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Sabrina Carpenter, Tenille Townes (The Canadian #1 “Jersey On The Wall (I’m Just Asking)”, and Lady A (The 3-week Billboard #1, RIAA Certified Platinum “Champagne Night”) and more. I also write my own artist songs that have been licensed in television shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Riverdale, Selling Sunset, and Love Is Blind. Brands like Target, Peloton, and Maybelline have used my music in their ads as well. I love what I do and am so grateful for it all!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I had a 14-level spinal fusion surgery in 2022 to correct my scoliosis. My lungs collapsed after surgery and I had to re-learn how to walk, breathe, and sing. It was beyond arduous. I didn’t know if I was going to ever sing again. The music business has it’s own struggles and challenges.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m proud that I have always stayed true to who I am in the music business. I’ve always loved writing all different kinds of music and I’m so grateful to have written hits for pop, country, sync, and beyond! I also won (alongside my co-writers) the CCMA Songwriter of the Year award back to back in 2020 and 2021. In 2020, it was for “Jersey On The Wall (I’m Just Asking)” and in 2021, it was for “Champagne Night”. But what I am MOST proud of is overcoming my health struggles post surgery.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is of my cousins and I performing dance routines for our parents…and chargng them money for watching our “show”. LOL
