Rising Stars: Meet Jenna Marotta of Franklin, TN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Marotta.

Hi Jenna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Born and raised in the Philadelphia area of Jersey, I started performing and playing music at a very young age.

I received a BA in Performing Arts from
The University of Tampa and decided my dreams were not just in musical theater.

I began singing with blues and Motown and rock bands fresh out of college and played all over the Chicagoland area. Eventually I began writing songs.

I spent 10 years in the NYC area after having been on Showtime at the Apollo Live show and eventually landed a dream cast to release my first LP.

Gypsy was produced by Grammy Award winner Dave Clauss, and features Jerry Marotta on drums, Alan Schwartz on guitar, Dan Weiss on keys, and Tony Tino on bass. Two of the tracks also feature a horn section to die for! Featuring Richie Cannata (the original Billy Joel sax player), TJ Robinson, Shareef Clayton, and our friend in Heaven now Frosty Lawson.

In 2016 I moved to Nashville and after a few years spent on re – branding emerged a new artist!

I spent most of my time here writing and recording and doing every writers round I can find.

I’ve also launched a fragrance business and this year plan to launch a non-profit based off my brand.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My life has had every struggle known to man, but I continue to remember that someone is going through way worse than I am on any given day. The key is to stay positive and take life as it comes.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am so all over the place sometimes, but that’s what makes me
Unique. I write music, film, am working on a cartoon series featuring my artist jennapple and some of the comic rap songs I write.

I love connecting with my audience. I will find them almost in tears when I’m singing a more gut wrenching song, and immediately flip them to laughter with something like “Take it Or Leave It” or my new anthem “Darn Carl”

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I read once that opportunity is when hard work and luck meet.
I would have to say it’s a combo. I don’t necessarily thing I got “lucky” to work with such an amazing team, I worked for years at my craft and spearheaded each town I’ve lived in by networking. I believe good things happen to good people and I strive to be kind to everyone I meet.
