Check Out Honey Eyes’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Honey Eyes.

Hi Honey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We all met at a party back in Boston. After a few weeks we became really great friends and started learning songs to play cover gigs around the city. A friend of ours had extra time during a studio session and invited us in to mess around and record something. After fumbling around recording for an hour, we wrote our first song, “Honey Eyes”. The chemistry during that studio session really made us realize that we could create something special. We continued writing songs and playing around Boston. In the summer of 2023, we decided to take a hiatus and finish up school while getting ready to enter the next chapter of life. In fall 2024, we found ourselves reunited in Nashville. After revisiting our songs, any old recordings and videos of our shows, we knew we owed it to our former selves to release this music and really put our best foot forward. Soon enough, working on this project gave us new life and more energy than we’ve had before around Honey Eyes, and now we’re ready for whatever the future has next.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We would be lying if we said it was smooth! The biggest struggle we came across was the unknown. A few years ago there was a lot of uncertainty if we would ever be able to finish our first album. At the time each of us had different plans where we saw ourselves in the future, and with school still in the picture, life got in the way of us finishing the project. While we still had big dreams for Honey Eyes, that uncertainty put a roadblock in the way and was pretty discouraging at times. Coming back together last fall and reminiscing on those tough moments put even more fuel in the fire for our mission now.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are an indie rock band from Boston, now based in Nashville. We take pride in our live performance, bringing the energy every time we hit the stage. Our sound is created from all of our individual influences that get smushed together. Reid comes from a jam band background with bands like Phish with Muse and John Mayer bringing in a different sound, Sophia pulls from Annie Lennox, Freddie Mercury, and Jeff Buckley for her lyric writing and performance, Dan grew up from artists like Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age, with more modern bands like Fontaines D.C. as current influences.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Instagram and Tik Tok have helped us navigate the different trends of the music business. These apps have also helped us find bands that are similar to us, especially when it comes to booking shows these apps make it easy to get in touch with talented bands that can fit on a bill together. Instagram and Tik Tok are also some of the best for building a community, interacting with people and promotion for music.
