Today we’d like to introduce you to Lainie Stubblefield.
Hi Lainie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Lainie Stubblefield was raised in Brentwood, TN. Shortly after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, she decided to start her career in Atlanta, GA. After living in Atlanta for five years, her interest was brought back to something she had only read and studied about a few years prior. That interest was in the area of alternative healing. It was this interest that took Lainie to the Academy of Somatic Healing Arts in Atlanta.
Lainie obtained her license in Atlanta and moved back to her hometown of Franklin, TN in 2000 to begin working as a massage therapist. Lainie offers a variety of massage techniques to her clients including helping those with chronic pain and repetitive use injuries. She now has 25 years of experience in this field and sometimes pinches herself that she gets paid to make others feel better.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life can throw us many curve balls that make the journey interesting. One of my curveballs was when the beautiful spa I was working at closed and I had to decide my next steps. I was devastated at the change, but it ended up being a gift from God. I had always wanted my own massage practice and this was the time to try it. I started my own practice by letting my current clients know where I would be. Enough of them followed me to get things rolling.
Another curveball is when Lainie has had her own health challenges to overcome. She has 25 years of experience and has good body mechanics while working, which is very important. But, when her own health issues come up, she has to tend those too. This has given her great compassion for what those with chronic pain or repetitive use injuries experience and she has learned many great techniques through her own health battles.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
One of the best parts of working for myself in my own practice is that I set the tone for the atmosphere of the practice. I believe that the body, mind and spirit connection is so deep that touching one of those affects them all. I often ask questions before starting about what is going on in someone’s life if they are experiencing pain. I also always ask if I can pray for the client at the end of the session. Speaking life and encouragement can affect the body, mind and spirit!
What’s next?
I am in a season of tending things from the recent passing of my earthly Father and that is quite time consuming as it is a huge loss. Once the details of that are done, I am ready to get back to planning some fun activities. I love to travel and got that wanderlust from my Father. Still so many places that I would love to explore in the USA and abroad. Would also like to get reacquainted with my Nikon camera as I have gotten to reliant on the really great camera on my phone.
