My journey as a photographer began a decade ago, driven by an unwavering passion for capturing life’s precious moments. My name is Shakti Chauhan, and I am the founder of The Wedding Pictography LLC. Over the years, I have specialized in portrait and wedding photography, helping couples and families preserve their most cherished memories.

I started my photography adventure with TFP shoots, where I explored the world of photography through various lens perspectives. This initial experience opened my eyes to the beauty of human emotions and the stories that unfold in front of the camera. I found joy in participating in portrait photo walks, where I learned to capture candid moments and the essence of my subjects.

Eager to refine my skills, I pursued a degree in portrait and wedding photography from the New York Institute of Photography (NYIP). This formal education provided me with the technical knowledge and artistic insight needed to elevate my work.

Based in Collierville, Tennessee, I have the privilege of covering events across Tennessee and beyond. Each wedding and portrait session allows me to weave together the narratives of love, joy, and connection that fill the air. As I look back on this incredible journey, I am grateful for the trust my clients place in me to document their significant milestones. Through The Wedding Pictography LLC, I aspire to continue creating timeless images that inspire nostalgia and warmth for years to come.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Every photographer’s journey is marked by both triumphs and struggles, and mine is no different. As I pursued my passion for photography, I encountered challenges that tested my dedication and resilience.

Starting out, I faced the daunting reality of building a brand from the ground up. With limited resources and a saturated market, establishing a foothold as a wedding and portrait photographer was a significant hurdle. I often found myself battling self-doubt, questioning if my work was truly good enough to compete with established names.

The technical aspects of photography also posed challenges. Mastering equipment, learning lighting techniques, and perfecting editing skills required countless hours of practice and experimentation. There were moments of frustration when the images I envisioned didn’t align with the photos I captured. It was during these times that I had to remind myself that growth comes from persistence and learning from mistakes.

Moreover, the emotional strain of photography can be underestimated. Capturing intimate moments at weddings means sharing in the joy of couples, but it can also be heavy when facing the realities of life, such as loss or adversity, among clients. Balancing professionalism while being emotionally present added another layer to the challenges I navigated.

As I began to find my footing, the logistics of running a photography business became apparent. From managing client relationships and marketing to handling the financial aspects, I quickly realized that photography was not just about taking pictures; it was about being a business owner too.

Despite these challenges, every struggle provided valuable lessons that refined my craft and built my character. With each obstacle overcome, I grew not only as a photographer but also as a storyteller who could authentically capture the essence of love and connection. The journey may have been fraught with difficulties, but it is the strength gained from those experiences that fuels my passion today. Through it all, I remain committed to creating beautiful memories for my clients, celebrating the victories that come from perseverance and hard work.
