Life & Work with Andrea Thomas Hand of Nashville and Orlando

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Thomas Hand.

Andrea Thomas, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
During the early stages of my husband Joshua and my dating relationship, we were fortunate enough to have mentors at our church who recommended inner healing counseling for my husband who was experiencing mental health challenges. If it weren’t for the help of our mentor, the spiritual counselors and marriage counselors we would not be together today. This was the beginning of our introduction and the understanding of the need for counselors in the church.

Then in 2018, our world changed forever. My family and I experienced an unthinkable loss—three loved ones to suicide, including my cousin Lyndsie. She and I were close in age, shared a similar grit, and a fire in our spirits. Each of them were bright, compassionate, and deeply rooted in their Christian faith—two were pastor’s daughters, all were healthcare professionals—a surgeon, a counselor, and an ER nurse. It left us with so many questions and not nearly enough answers.

But one thing became heartbreakingly clear: the shame surrounding mental health—especially within the Christian community—was keeping too many people silent and suffering. That silence had to be broken.

Out of that pain, A Sound of Hope was born. Our mission is to raise awareness, break the stigma, and bring hope to individuals and families navigating mental health challenges—particularly within faith spaces. We advocate for more safe, honest conversations within the church, and partner with mental health professionals and inner healing ministries to bring both practical support and spiritual restoration.

One of our most powerful projects to date is the Sound of Hope: Remastering the Soundtrack of Your Life video series. It’s a Mental Health TV series designed to help the Church understand the root causes behind mental health symptoms and to equip both leaders and congregations to respond with compassion, wisdom, and truth.

A Sound of Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, but more than that—it’s a movement. One that says faith and mental health aren’t mutually exclusive, and healing begins when we finally feel safe to speak up.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been far more difficult and challenging than I ever expected—but also more meaningful than I could’ve imagined. There were moments I genuinely wasn’t sure we’d be able to keep going. But every time we hit a wall, something—or someone—showed up to remind us why we started this in the first place.

Thanks to our generous donors, passionate volunteers at our fundraisers, and the unwavering support of our board members, we’ve been able to keep the mission alive. But the most powerful fuel has come from the countless suicide survivors and individuals who’ve bravely stepped forward to share their mental health journeys. Their vulnerability, honesty, and encouragement have been everything. It’s their voices that continue to validate the need for what we’re doing.

Because of that support, we’ve been able to produce digital mental health awareness content, host impactful Sound of Hope events, and we’re getting ready to launch our Sound of Hope Video Series—something we’re incredibly excited about for the Christian church. It’s been a road full of obstacles, but also full of purpose. And we’re just getting started.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
From the streets of Fort Worth to the stages of Hollywood, Andrea Thomas is a force in the music world whose heart beats just as loudly as her voice. A Christian recording artist and songwriter, Andrea effortlessly bridges the worlds of country, pop, and worship—bringing faith, soul, and a touch of Southern grit to every performance.

Music runs deep in her roots. Raised in a family of gospel singers, Andrea got her first taste of evangelism and performance as a young girl—singing to the homeless alongside her parents and appearing on national TV through her grandfather’s show, Texas Country Gospel. Her early experiences laid the foundation for a lifelong mission: to move people through music and minister hope wherever her songs are heard.

After earning her degree in Music Business from Nashville’s renowned Belmont University, Andrea recorded her second independent album, Awaken My Soul, and sharpened her ministry skills at Bethel’s School of Worship in Redding, California.

Then came a series of dream-come-true moments: touring as a background vocalist with country music superstar Carrie Underwood, and later, stepping into the national spotlight as a contestant on NBC’s The Voice (Season 12, Team Blake).

But no matter the size of the stage, Andrea’s message remains the same.

“Whatever you’re filled up with, you release,” she shares. “I’ve had the honor of a lifetime to share my voice with many different audiences, and what brings me the greatest joy is getting to share my faith and give God the glory along the way.”

Andrea Thomas isn’t just an artist—she’s a storyteller, a worshipper, and a woman on a mission. And her music? It’s more than melody. It’s ministry.

Good Seeds Entertainment was born out of both passion and pain. After losing a close family member to suicide in January 2018, I knew I couldn’t stay silent. I felt a deep conviction to use the gifts God gave me—music, storytelling, creativity—not just to entertain, but to plant seeds of hope and healing into culture.

My husband Joshua and I founded Good Seeds Entertainment, a nonprofit organization with the goal of promoting positive cultural change through music, film, television, social media, and the performing arts. Our content is hope-driven, Christ-centered, and designed to speak to the heart of this generation—especially in areas the Church sometimes hesitates to address, like mental health, identity, and the effects of social media.

Sound of Hope is one of our first major projects, and honestly, it’s the heartbeat of everything we stand for. It’s a 30-minute, music-filled TV series designed to go beyond surface conversations and dive deep into the root issues behind mental health struggles. But we don’t stop at awareness—we guide people toward recovery, healing, and ultimately, back to their God-given purpose.

Each episode weaves together powerful original music from featured artists, real stories of resilience, and insight from trauma-informed experts. It’s raw, honest, and beautifully redemptive. Our goal is to create a space where faith and mental health are no longer seen as separate conversations, but as two parts of the same healing journey.

What makes Sound of Hope so unique is that it brings together science, scripture, creativity, and community. It’s not just a show—it’s a movement inviting people to see their value, reclaim their identity, and find hope again.

Through Good Seeds, we will also be producing multiple projects in partnership with artists and creatives across the entertainment industry. The goal? To shift the narrative, create culture-shaping content, and ultimately remind people that there is always hope—even in the darkest moments.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
If it weren’t for the relentless vision and unwavering faith of my mother, Diana Thomas, A Sound of Hope might have never been more than an idea. Her deep passion to see God restore the joy of His salvation to a generation weighed down by depression and anxiety has been the anchor behind this movement.

It was through her powerful prayers and persistence that A Sound of Hope first took shape—as a one-time local event in Fort Worth, Texas, following a devastating year where our community lost three precious lives to suicide. What began as a night of healing became the seed for something far greater: a global call for the Church to confront mental health with compassion, truth, and grace.

Mom, thank you for being the heart behind the hope. Your courage and love continue to inspire every step forward.

And to my incredible husband, Joshua—thank you for your unwavering support, encouragement, and belief in this vision. Your willingness to let me pour my time, energy, and resources into this project—even when it meant long hours and time away from home—has meant the world to me. I couldn’t have done this without your love and constant strength behind the scenes.
