Rising Stars: Meet Amber Wright of La Parisienne Home

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Wright.

Hi Amber, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I spent the first 25 years of my career working in the entertainment industry doing public relations. From Sony International Television in Los Angeles to Universal Music Group in Nashville, and a private agency in New York City, all of these wonderful experiences prepared me to open my first home decor and gift shoppe, La Parisienne Home.

La Parisienne Home is a new, high-end modern decor store and gift destination located in Nashville’s design-centric Wedgewood Houston neighborhood. Our items are to be showcased around the home, be it a casual or formal setting. Whether you’re relaxing alone, entertaining a group or gifting, our pieces exude exquisite chic style and beautifully and effortlessly create a luxe atmosphere.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I encountered some expected challenges in changing industries, but nothing I couldn’t manage. As long as you remain driven, have an adaptable plan that easily pivots when you meet dead ends, and are open to learning and growing in new ways, I believe anyone has the capability. And to have a shoppe to call my own, and to work for myself, makes it all worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
La Parisienne Home’s concept was created from my love of travel and my desire to explore various cultures. I’ve seen and learned so much about the world and other people through my adventures abroad. Once I established a direction for our brand, I envisioned lush fabrics, beautiful textures and eye-popping colors and designs. Then I began doing the research of what was currently available in the Nashville market as I knew we had to carry brands that weren’t readily available in other stores, and items that felt authentic to the European way of life. We buy from all over the globe and offer high/low pricing so there are price points that are affordable for everybody. We have one-of-a-kind items you can splurge on that will be a talking point for future parties, gatherings, and you’ll keep for a lifetime. But we also offer pieces that are unique and chic, yet very affordable. We understand everyone’s financial situations vary, so we’re here to make shopping and furnishing your home elegant and enjoyable.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I’m incredibly lucky that my parents are life-long entrepreneurs, risk-takers and trust and encourage me. They have run numerous businesses and were there to field every one of my questions. They’ve worked in various industries and have failed and succeeded so I knew I was going to be challenged by them, but also informed in a very hands on way.

It’s also been very important to me to maintain healthy business relationships with everyone I’ve ever worked with even long after we were directly in business together. I definitely tapped a lot of those people from my past for support surrounding our grand opening when we needed it the most and was emotionally moved when so many of them showed up for me.

Networking for me never stops. I greet every person that walks in the door and always have an open ear. I want to help in the biggest way – for whatever reason brought them in our door, or whatever goal they’re trying to achieve, even if it’s to just check out for a bit, have an espresso or glass of wine, and explore fun design.
