Daily Inspiration: Meet Tori Ruis Brandi Craig

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tori Ruis Brandi Craig.

Hi Tori Ruis , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Brandi has a background in Montessori education and has always wanted to open a small Montessori based learning facility with a Christian foundation. I have a background in older students, and a passion for faith based instruction. Together we made the decision to open a homeschool tutorial that focused on the love of Jesus, and the unique abilities of each individual child. We made a commitment to create a space that valued meeting the student where they are in their own learning process, partnering with parents throughout the student’s educational journey, and honoring the love of Jesus in their life. When we first opened we offered classes for students in grades Pre K through eighth grade, and we were able to house our classes at Platinum Dance Studio. We had twenty seven students when we first opened our doors in 2022. Now we are currently in two different facilities serving students in grades Pre K – eleventh grade, and our current enrollment is right under two hundred students. God has done a mighty work through Anchor Academy, and we have managed to maintain our small classrooms, parent partnerships, and faith based instructional opportunities for our students.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. We have faced challenges due to our promise to meet each student where they are in their learning process. In order to honor this vision we have worked diligently to meet the needs of every student each day. We also want to create a space where students LOVE to learn, but are also held accountable for being kind human beings. This does not come without its share of challenges. Since our inception in 2022 there have been similar homeschool tutorials to open, and it is important that we maintain our truth, and what makes Anchor unique. Due to our explosive growth we are also now in two different facilities. Our younger students are in one facility, and our older students are in another. We are PRAYING for the ability to raise enough money to put our entire school family back under one roof. This is SO IMPORTANT to us, and we miss being together every day!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are Montessori centered home school tutorial with a focus on Faith and the Love of Jesus Christ. We work to create a learning environment where students are free to learn the common subject areas in a variety of methods. We utilize individual instruction, freedom of movement, and student directed learning to ensure that our students do not just memorize material, but actually master what they are learning. We believe that God is the foundation of all that matters, and that loving Jesus, and sharing His love with others fulfills our purpose here on earth. We believe STRONGLY in giving back to our local community, and have worked with several different non profit organizations in our area to facilitate an attitude of community service within our school family.

What makes you happy?
Students who LOVE Jesus, and LOVE coming to school makes us the happiest. We are so thankful to create a space where our students inner light, and love of learning can shine brightly. Seeing our students happy to get out of their vehicles every morning and enter our doors causes us to be filled with happiness.
