Check Out Lora Mofield’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lora Mofield.

Hi Lora, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been a professional makeup artist for over 8 years now, but I have been absolutely obsessed with art and beauty for as long as I can remember. I can even remember getting in trouble for sneaking blue eye shadow in 4th grade, or applying way too much black eyeliner on the bus in middle school. Even though I looked hilarious at times while experimenting with different looks, it led me to discovering so many amazing techniques and makeup artists throughout history. During my teens, I started doing other girls’ makeup for prom, pictures, dances, etc. and realized that maybe I could make a career out of my passion. Over the last decade, I have taken on all types of gigs as a makeup artist. I started out doing primarily bridal and formal event makeup, then diving into more editorial and more production work. These days, I mostly enjoy working on photoshoots, fashion shows, films, and really anything creative!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d say it’s been a relatively smooth road. I’ve been very fortunate thus far with networking, and that’s everything in this industry. Of course, every job has its challenges. The biggest one for me has been feeling like I’m doing enough, both professionally and personally. However, I do recognize that it’s important to slow down or take breaks sometimes.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a makeup artist and licensed aesthetician. Something that I feel sets me apart is my versatility and creativity. Although I’m experienced in and passionate about so many styles, I’d say I specialize in editorial makeup. At this point in my career, I’m most proud of the work I’ve done for the last two New York Fashion Week seasons I’ve been a part of.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I truly feel that I’ve been incredibly lucky in the connections I’ve made. I have met some amazing creatives who have become wonderful collaborators and mentors. Having the best support system full of my family and friends also makes me feel very lucky, which is super motivating.
