Conversations with Erina McLaren

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erina McLaren.

Hi Erina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved to sing. I started singing at a very young age, at church and at school. I was very shy as a kid and music helped me to overcome that. I performed in choirs for many years. When I went to college I started performing with an a cappella group and a friend’s band. It was there that I realized my love of performing. I started writing songs and performing at open mics when I returned home from college. I spent the last decade performing locally, a blend of covers and originals. Most recently I’ve been performing with my own band.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth. There were lots of times when I doubted myself, especially my songwriting and performing skills. It’s hard to feel confident when you are sometimes considered just the background noise in a crowded restaurant or bar. But over the years I have become more confident in my musical abilities.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer-songwriter from Tacoma, Washington. I love writing and performing music that blends different genres together. I try to write songs that move people when they hear them. I recently signed with Young Outlaw Music. I’m so grateful that they have been so supportive of my unique style.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I try to keep my website Erinamclarenmusic.com up to date with shows, my music, contact info and news coming up. It’s the best place to follow what I’m up to in addition to my Facebook (ErinaMcLarenMusic) and Instagram (reenbean253) I am always open to collaboration and any support!
