Today we’d like to introduce you to Ethan DaSilva.
Hi Ethan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Since I was a kid I wanted to be a superhero. I wanted to save the whole world. I often looked at celebrities as super heroes, specially musicians and performing artists. I felt like they could do anything and the way people looked at them made them larger than life. I wanted that so I began working on my own music at 12 years old. In 2009, I started my own record label and have been on the grind since. I started with local shows in Nashville, TN at currently retired venues like “The Muse,” and “The Rutledge,” and I put out my first studio project in 2011. My career really began to soar when I moved to Atlanta, GA in 2013. I gained a ton of notoriety and fan support, so I took my talents on the road for 2 years. After successfully touring through 13 different states, I came back to Nashville, TN to help my friends who also made music. I’ve spent the past 10 years performing my own music as well as recording, mixing, mastering, managing and educating performing artists, and helping elevate my community through artist led activism with Bang 4 Liberation: The Environmental Justice Army.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey is absolutely the destination. I can’t tell you if it’s been smooth, because what reference do I have besides my own? I believe my unique experience is my own and can be categorized as “difficult,” but I prefer to refer to it as developmental. I’ve gained so much experience from my “hardships,” that I wouldn’t trade my worst day out. In hindsight, I would work more with my peers than to operate in a silo. All in all, my journey has been pleasant, even if it is Challenging.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a hip hop artist as well as an audio engineer and music business consultant and advisor. I’ve spent the majority of my career touring and helping other artists achieve their goals.
I’ve created an Artist Development Program called “The Revolutionary Artist Program Initiative” that aims to highlight the way artists make money directly from their music and educate them on becoming financially sustainable artists. Recently, my first registered class graduated from the program.
My ability to navigate the music industry with insight and understanding of what it takes to be successful. I’m not under the illusion of lottery success in the music industry. I’m very capable of recording, mixing, mastering, and producing
