Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Taylor.
Hi Mia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My mother was the first to introduce me to herbs. After I graduated from undergrad, I started to do research and create my own products for my hair since nothing worked for it.
Fast forward a few years later when I was pregnant with my daughter. I had a holistic midwife and learned a whole lot about things that could support me and my daughter without having to buy medications over the counter. Then, once I had my daughter, she got sick with RSV and the doctor literally told me everything that is advertised over the counter for babies/toddlers were not good for them and can make symptoms worse. This set a fire under my butt to learn more about natural remedies that can be safe for my daughter and actually help. In this I took two courses online to learn more about herbs and I came across tea remedies. I started to create teas for myself and friends personally.
I then took a few tea blending courses by Beauty herbs and Tea. From there I got my certificate as a Tea Practitioner and started my business Monet Infusionz last year November.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not. I was working for a logistics company at the same time where I was working 9 1/2 hour days plus overtime and outside of that, vending for a few events a month. I was exhausted.
There isn’t much resources online on how to run a tea business so I had to do a lot of research and there was a whole lot of trial and error but I have had an amazing support system with my girlfriend and friends who have offered opportunities to collaborate and just spread word.
Once I was let go from my full-time job, met Yolanda and was given a chance to be a vendor at the Nashville Farmer’s market, things have taking off! I have been able to bring my teas to the community every weekend and connect to many different walks of life and receive feedback from other vendors and it has helped so much.
I am so excited to see what will happen next for Monet Infusionz.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
When looking for a mentor or trying to network, my biggest piece of advice is to lead with curiosity and authenticity. Instead of approaching people with the mindset of “What can they do for me?”, approach them with genuine interest in their work, journey, or perspective. Ask thoughtful questions, listen actively, and look for natural points of connection.
Also, don’t underestimate the power of community events, social media and even volunteering. Sometimes the best mentors aren’t the most “famous” ones with a huge following or have millions of dollars—they’re the people a few steps ahead of you who are open to sharing what they’ve learned. Especially in my experience just talking with others around me like my friends and other vendors at the Nashville market, I have found amazing connections and have been provided feedback, and support and vice versa. I don’t know where I would be without connecting with others and networking with people in my community.
Finally A simple thank-you message or update on how their advice helped you goes a long way in building meaningful, long-term relationships.
Remember, there is space at the table for everyone and there is a lot of people out in the world that wants to see everyone win. You don’t need to step on anyone’s toes to become successful.
