Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Lomax.
Hi Amanda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My background as an artist is in photography. I was a portrait and event photographer for 10 years then moved in to fine art photography and now I work with all types of media.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Staying true to the art I want to make. The first and only question I ask is does this satisfy me? If not I keep working.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My most recent series is called “I Project What I Reflect”. This series delves into the concept of psychological projection, illustrating how individuals unconsciously project their inner psychic material onto the external world. The artworks feature abstract compositions reverse painted on lucite blocks affixed to mirrored glass, exploring the interplay between internal and external reflections of self.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Connecting with others through my work. That is deeply satisfying.
