Life & Work with Jessie Roddy of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Roddy.

Hi Jessie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started taking photos when I was a kid! I would grab my dads camera and find little nature settings or flowers to photograph. I got my own personal camera when I was 17 and I immediately started having photo shoots with whoever was willing (a lot of them being of my sister). Then J got my first professional photography job at 18 and would take photos and headshots for people throughout college. By my senior year, I took grad pictures and started to advertise more and use my social media platform for outreach! I now and going back and forth between Nashville and New York to fulfill my music dreams as well as my photography dreams!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been very up and down! I feel like sometimes there is a steady stream of demand and then sometimes it is crickets, but in those downtimes I love to still practice and take photos of friends to build my portfolio!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I special in lifestyle/ editorial shoots! I love to come up with a theme, concept, or find a prop and build around that for photos!

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
That sometimes people don’t align with your art, and that is the whole point!
