Hi Sofie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Well…..this is a loaded question : ) My entire evolution as a human up until this point at the age of 36 has been about challenging the status quo and changing the narrative, not only for me but for those around me. I grew up in a fundamentalist Christian cult that stripped away my personal power as a woman. My business was built around my desire to help people do the one thing I have been trying to do my entire life. To live completely and utterly authentic to who I am as a person. My podcast that I started in 2022 was the stepping stone to me being able do just that. It challenged me to step more and more into alignment with my personal power and helped me realize I was here to help others do the same.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I laughed out loud during this question! I will elaborate as best as I can, Not only did I have to break away from a toxic “cult” system, be disowned from my family and the only community I have ever known but there was even more work to do. Which included me marrying someone outside the group who would emotionally manipulate me into staying with him for almost ten years, moving across the country, becoming an international flight attendant, Moving back across the country, diving into spirituality leaving the church. Followed by a divorce, a short stint in a mental facility where I was misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder and then having a spontaneous spiritual awakening which led me to the gifts I can now embrace fully and my inevitable move to Nashville. It has been a never ending labyrinth of trial and error, magic and madness. Along the way I realized my passion was to help others avoid the pain, or at least in some way be what I never had when I was younger. A liaison to them trusting themselves, something a lot of us have been talked out of doing. My business was birthed out of so many experiences that have shaped and shifted me. None of which have been easy but looking back now I can see why things happened the way they did, and I am so grateful for the journey.

So the business I have started is called “SPIRITED SOFIE Apothecary” and what is an apothecary? It is a place people go to get what they need for whatever ails them. My business is still evolving but it is still based on the quote, “Be the person you needed when you were younger..”
For years, as an unaware psychic, empath and over sensitive person I battled with fear and the inability to understand my gifts. My podcast was the starting point for me realizing I wanted to create a brand that helped people feel good in their bodies. So whether you are saging your home, using protective salt on your threshold before your toxic family members visit, or needing a tarot reading and a candle for some direction in your life SPIRITED SOFIE Apothecary is a one stop shop for all of your metaphysical needs.
I fly to Europe on the side for a commercial airline to help fund this venture but is my vision to build a brand that makes spirituality attainable to people who are just dipping their toes into the water and also for people who are well versed. Everyone deserves the right to feel safe in their home and their bodies and that is my goal. Metaphysics don’t have to be daunting. They are a wonderful attribute to everyday life.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
To be honest my podcast aided in this a lot. It allowed me the ability to meet so many like minded people, but also people who shared a different belief system than me. I was able to find a psychic mentor through it and meet so many other amazing humans who fueled my desire to be a better person inside and out. Since moving to Nashville I have had an overwhelming amount of gratitude and of the many things I love about about this city is the overall feeling of collaboration that I feel when existing in this space. It is a community of networking and connection and that has definitely fueled my desire to be the best brand builder I can be. I grew up in Maine but there was this intuitive knowing that this business had to be launched in East Nashville and that has been such a rewarding decision for me as an up and coming entrepreneur.
