Hi Alina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my photography journey in 2021 after feeling a strong pull to leave behind the corporate world and pursue something more creative. With a bachelor’s and master’s degree in healthcare management from the Netherlands, I spent several years working in Germany before my husband and I married and relocated to the U.S. in 2023. It didn’t take long to realize how important it was for me to stay connected to my family in Germany and maintain a flexible lifestyle. Today, I feel incredibly fortunate to offer maternity, newborn, family, and wedding photography—a path that brings me so much joy, it hardly feels like work at all.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The transition from Germany to the U.S. has been surprisingly smooth. I’ve found that the market here is not only larger but also filled with a deeper appreciation for photography. While there’s certainly more competition, there’s also far more space for creativity—and clients who go the extra mile for the perfect images.

I’m a lifestyle and wedding photographer based in the Nashville area, specializing in maternity, newborn, family, and wedding photography. I also offer senior and engagement sessions, capturing meaningful moments across all stages of life.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice to fellow photographers: surround yourself with the right peers—those you can learn from, grow with, and genuinely support. While competition will always be part of the journey, there’s room for everyone, and the right clients will always find the photographer who’s the perfect fit for them.
