Meet Brad Sanders of Legion Dog and Cat Supply

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Sanders.

Hi Brad, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Legion Dog and Cat Supply started with a loss that changed everything. When we lost our young mastiff to lymphoma, we were devastated — and we began asking hard questions about what we were feeding our pets and the products we were using every day. That journey opened our eyes to how much misleading, low-quality pet care is out there, even on store shelves that seem trustworthy.

As a veteran-owned business, we decided to take action. We opened Legion Dog and Cat Supply in Clarksville, Tennessee, with a mission: to give pet owners a place they can trust for clean, healthy, and purpose-driven products for both dogs and cats.

From our hand-picked food selections — including raw, gently cooked, and high-quality kibble — to safe, enriching toys and effective supplements, every product is there for a reason. We’ve built strong relationships with our customers by standing behind what we sell and helping people make informed choices for their pets.

Today, we’re proud to be more than just a store — we’re a community of people who care deeply about animals and are committed to helping them thrive. That’s how we started, and that’s what keeps us going every day.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s definitely been worth it.

Like any small business, we’ve had our share of growing pains — figuring out inventory, learning how to work with distributors, and finding the right products that align with our values. There’s also been a lot of trial and error when it comes to things like marketing, store layout, and even figuring out how many towels we actually need for the wash stations!

One of the biggest challenges has been staying committed to offering only high-quality, trustworthy products — even when it would be easier to just carry what’s popular. But we’ve stuck to our mission, and over time, our customers have come to appreciate that difference.

At the end of the day, we love what we do. We get to talk about pets all day, help people make better choices for their animals, and be part of a great community. It’s been a journey — and we’re just getting started.

As you know, we’re big fans of Legion Dog and Cat Supply. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Legion Dog and Cat Supply is all about quality, trust, and putting pets first. We’re a locally owned, veteran-owned pet supply store in Clarksville, Tennessee, focused on providing premium, purposeful products for both dogs and cats.

We specialize in clean, high-quality nutrition — raw, gently cooked, and limited-ingredient foods that support real pet health. You’ll find trusted brands like Open Farm, Primal, Green Juju, A Pup Above, and many more. We carefully choose every item we carry — from food and treats to toys, supplements, and grooming essentials — because we believe pets deserve better.

We also offer two self-service wash stations stocked with groomer-grade products to make bath time easier (and less messy) for everyone.

What sets us apart is that we live this life with our own pets. Everything in our store is something we’d use ourselves. We’re not here just to sell — we’re here to help, educate, and support fellow pet parents.

Even though we’re a small business, our prices are competitive with the big box stores — and you get better service, better products, and a team that genuinely cares. Plus, we give back. Every month, we support a different animal rescue by collecting donations and giving a portion of our proceeds to help animals in need.

We’re proud of the community we’ve built, and we’re here to help you give your pets the healthiest, happiest life possible.
