Conversations with Jordyn Rax

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordyn Rax.

Hi Jordyn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into film and television has been anything but linear, but it’s always been rooted in storytelling. I’ve always been drawn to westerns, drama, and character-driven narratives that leave a lasting impact.

After spending years in both New York City and Los Angeles, I worked my way through the entertainment industry with the roots of my career beginning as an extra on a cable tv series. As time progressed, I began stepping into producing and acting roles, creating space for myself in an industry that’s been especially tough in recent years. But even through the challenges, I’ve stayed committed to telling meaningful, grounded stories both in front of and behind the camera. Every step has shaped the creative I am today. I recently completed a 125-page feature film script, arguably my most personal and ambitious project to date, which has only deepened my commitment to telling grounded, meaningful stories. Every step (and misstep) has shaped the creative I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road, but I don’t think it’s supposed to be. The film industry can be incredibly unpredictable and in recent years, it’s been especially difficult with strikes, shifting economics, and fewer opportunities across the board.

On a more personal level, carving out a creative identity while working behind the scenes was a challenge. I was in rooms where big decisions were made, but I was still fighting to be seen as a creative voice. It’s taken time, patience, and a lot of self-belief to start stepping into those bigger roles as a producer and actor. Writing my feature film script was also a massive undertaking. While creatively fulfilling it has been also emotionally intense, especially when you’re pouring so much of yourself into the page without knowing what the outcome will be.

But even with the tough seasons, I’m grateful. Every setback or slowdown has pushed me to become more resourceful, more resilient, and more certain of the kind of work I want to create.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an actress, producer, and writer with a focus on character-driven stories, especially within the western, action, and psychological thriller genres. I’m drawn to layered narratives that explore human complexity, identity, and emotional truth. Whether I’m in front of the camera or behind it, my work is rooted in authenticity and storytelling with purpose.

Some of my most notable acting credits include Special Ops: Lioness (Paramount+), Day of the Fight, the upcoming biopic Michael (2026), and NCIS: Origins. On the production side, I’ve produced narrative shorts, web series, and recently completed the original feature film script that I’ve mentioned. Writing that project, start to finish, was a creative breakthrough and a huge reminder of why I’m in this business: to tell stories that move people.

What sets me apart is my ability to hold both the artistic and logistical sides of filmmaking. I have a producer’s brain and an actor’s heart, which means I approach every project with both vision and empathy. I’m also deeply collaborative, and I genuinely love the process from early ideation to final cut.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Nashville is the creative energy – it’s a city full of storytellers, dreamers, and people who actually support one another. There’s a genuine sense of community here that’s rare to find, especially coming from places like NYC and LA. Plus, the live music on every corner, hot chicken, and stunning sunsets don’t hurt either.

As for what I like least? Honestly… trying to decide where to eat. There are too many good options. It’s a blessing and a curse. That, and maybe the humidity. My hair has been in a committed battle with it since I arrived.
