Check Out Cooper Ledford’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cooper Ledford.

Cooper, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in a house full of music. My mom sang, my uncle played guitar, and my dad always had something playing; so singing was always part of me, even if I never saw it as a real career. I tried everything growing up— sports, clubs—but nothing compared to getting my first guitar for my sophomore year of high school. I fell in love with playing and writing songs, and it eventually led me to move Nashville over college to chase my dream.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been anything but a smooth road, but nothing good comes easy. Moving to Nashville at 19 has definitely had its share of difficulties, but I think the hardest part is the uncertainty. You don’t know what’s going to happen or what opportunities will fall through, and a lot of the time, it’s out of your hands. All I can do is wake up every day and work as hard as I can and write the best damn songs possible, and I don’t intend to stop anytime soon.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart is that I know who I am. I think, especially with social media, it’s so easy to fall into trends and what’s working for someone else nowadays. I think the authenticity is what’s lacking in a lot of music today and that’s what I feel I bring to the table. I’m not trying to be anybody but me and I think my songwriting reflects that. I’m not afraid to say what I think, or the battles that many people face and don’t talk about. At the same time, I’m not scared to have a little fun either. I love singing about the highs and lows of this ride called life. That’s me.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Being a country singer from South Carolina raised by a preacher and a teacher, I have just about the most country upbringing there is. I think people would be surprised at how diverse my musical influences are. I love country like no other, Keith Whitley is my favorite singer ever and by far my greatest influence, however, guys like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Smashing Pumpkins, Counting Crows, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Michael Bolton, and many, many more have had huge impacts on my sound and songwriting style.
