Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Andrews.
Hi Justin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I was a kid my grandparents had a traveling gospel band that I would sing in with my sister. We would travel from church to church singing and playing songs. This experience grew my love for music into the greats like Vince Gill, Allison Krauss, Willie Nelson, George Strait, and more. I knew from a young age that I wanted to perform on stages and chase the dream of being a country music singer. I used to end my nights in my bedroom after work playing my guitar for an hour every night before I went to bed or sitting around at friends houses playing them new songs I had just learned until they got tired of hearing them. I have always tried to stay true to my roots that are steeped in the good ole country that makes people want to get up and dance in hopes that one day I’d have a song on CMT and be able to watch my music video like I used to watch all of my heroes every week on tv from small town in Oklahoma.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In life, everyone goes through the highs and the lows but for me the biggest challenges are in my own head. I have seen the music industry be kind and then in the next week kick my butt. What has kept me going is visualizing the dream of performing on a big stage in my head everyday and let that be my drive to keep going.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a full time Singer/Songwriter born in Oklahoma and my specialty is to change peoples’ whole mood with a song. I am known for being the good ole country boy you can always talk to and trust that I will keep my word. I am probably the most proud of getting a song of mine recorded on a big scale by Aaron Lewis and Professional Golfer John Daly called “Empty Castle”. What makes that even cooler is that song was the first song I ever wrote at a publishing house when I first moved to Nashville.
