Today we’d like to introduce you to Layton Jones.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story really starts with a love for building things — not just businesses, but opportunities for people. When I first bought the land that’s now Jones Farm, it wasn’t a venue or a retreat space; it was an overgrown dumpsite that most folks would’ve written off. But I saw potential, and more importantly, I felt called to it.
My wife Ashla and I prayed over the land and decided to turn it into something that could serve others. In just six months, we transformed it enough to host our own wedding here in 2022 — the very first event on the property. That moment lit a fire in us.
Since then, we’ve built Jones Farm into a place where nature, hospitality, and community all meet. We host weddings, live music, retreats, and offer private lodging, and every event feels like adding another chapter to the story we started.
It hasn’t been easy — there were times when the only thing keeping us going was faith and the belief that hard work pays off — but I wouldn’t trade those challenges for anything. This place isn’t just a business for us. It’s a legacy we hope will outlive us and continue to be a space where people connect, celebrate, and feel at home.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road — and honestly, I think the hard parts are what have made this place so meaningful to us. Just a week before our wedding — which was also the very first event at Jones Farm — Ashla’s mom and grandfather both passed away. It was devastating, and we were grieving while trying to celebrate one of the most important days of our lives.
The ground out here has been difficult from day one — hard to work, and more than once we’ve had flooding wipe out our progress. Add in the daily realities of juggling employees, their livelihoods, and the weight of making sure everyone has work, plus the challenge of being in the hospitality industry where every client’s needs and expectations are unique — it’s a lot to manage.
We’ve faced unexpected costs, weather setbacks, and plenty of moments where we wondered how we’d push through. But faith and perseverance kept us moving. Every obstacle — personal or professional — has shaped Jones Farm into what it is today: not just a beautiful venue, but a living reminder that with hard work, prayer, and a strong community, you can turn even the toughest ground into something worth celebrating.
As you know, we’re big fans of Jones Farm . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Jones Farm is more than just an event venue — it’s a place where nature, hospitality, and community meet. We sit just outside of Nashville in Joelton, TN, and offer weddings, retreats, live music events, private lodging, and curated experiences that give guests a true Southern welcome.
We’re known for our setting — almost 100 acres of rolling Tennessee land, cozy creekside cabins, and versatile spaces like Sycamore Hall, the Creekside Pavilion, and the Lodge. But more than the spaces, we’re known for how we treat people. We pour as much into the experience as we do into the property. Whether it’s a bride on her wedding day, a band playing to a packed crowd, or a family escaping to our cabins, we want everyone to feel seen, valued, and at home.
What sets us apart is the heart behind the work. Jones Farm didn’t start as a polished venue — it started as an overgrown piece of land that we transformed with our own hands. That work ethic, paired with genuine hospitality and a deep love for our community, is what drives everything we do.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that people associate Jones Farm with authenticity. We’re not a cookie-cutter venue — every event, every guest, and every memory made here is personal. We offer full-service event hosting, lodging, live music nights, seasonal festivals, and even give back by donating to local charities.
At the end of the day, I want readers to know Jones Farm isn’t just a place to rent. It’s a place to connect, celebrate, and be part of a story that started with a dream, a lot of faith, and the belief that good things grow when you care for them.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about Nashville is the energy. It’s a city that blends Southern hospitality with big dreams — people come here to create, to connect, and to chase something they believe in. I also love how close-knit the community can feel once you get past the surface. We’ve had incredible support from locals who want to see businesses like ours succeed.
What I like least is that with so much growth, it can be easy for the small-town charm and personal connections to get overshadowed. Sometimes the pace of change means you lose a little bit of that neighbor-to-neighbor feel. But that’s part of why we built Jones Farm — to create a place where people can slow down, connect, and feel that sense of belonging again.
