We recently had the chance to connect with Marisa Braden and have shared our conversation below.
Marisa, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
It has taken me years and years to practice evolving the first 90 minutes of my day and I am currently at a place that I am really proud of! Obviously with touring not every day can be the same, but an ideal schedule would be waking up on my own, making coffee and journaling. I keep a daily journal as well as a bullet journal where I keep to do lists, my schedule, track habits, food and exercise, etc. While I’m doing that I’ll drink my coffee and eat something so I have the energy to go for a walk or run. If I’m able to start my day strong then everything else seems to fall into place!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Marisa Braden and I am a tour photographer / videographer. I am currently on the road with Maddie & Tae!
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My best friend Summer Bush-Dombi. We’ve known each other since middle school, and her friendship is invaluable. She has a way of holding a mirror up to me, giving me the perspective I need to see myself more honestly and completely.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh yea. I think every true artist has thought about giving up. Also every true artist knows that’s not an option so you have to just keep pushing through.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That things can’t change and wearing exhaustion like a badge of honor will get you farther.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Yes! I got onto a tour I’d been pining after and learned better pay does not always equal better experiences.
