We’re looking forward to introducing you to Harley Johnson. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Harley, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Snuggling with my two dogs, Hank & Willie, who are my furry alarm clocks.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my names Harley! I’m a mom and Marine Corps veteran who served honorably as an Artilleryman. Misschif Media was launched in 2023 while I was on deployment, where I turned my passions into a business to help my transition out of the military.
Misschif is a one stop for marketing, media and event needs. From teaching country dancing, to photography & videography, to graphic design & social media management, among many other things. I do a little bit of everything but primarily focus on working with country musicians, small business and dance events all over the country. I also coordinate and host various events for country dancing and small businesses as well.
My biggest love is working with musicians, especially singer song writers because of the heart and passion they have for their craft, just the same I do for Misschif.
Fun fact… the name Misschif was my road name when I road motorcycles
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That I didn’t belong because I never fit in with one specific “clique” but now I realize that that is a beautiful thing and opens the door to many things when you are just a decent effing human to everybody.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
It taught me to give more grace and to just listen. We’re so easy to judge, to listen to others or a headline and not giving people the time of the day because of those things.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. I tell everybody that no matter what capacity you’ve met me at, I am me and I’m so proud of that. Whether it’s pre Marine Corps, as Misschif, through dancing, music, whatever it might be, I am who I am, nothing more, nothing less. I’ve grown and have changed for the better, but putting a front on social media is just not in my cards. The only thing you don’t see in the public eye, is my struggles.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I was kind or made an impact in some sort of fashion to them. Also be a reminder that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
