An Inspired Chat with Bea Robinson of Murfreesboro

We recently had the chance to connect with Bea Robinson and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Bea, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
If you run your life and business with integrity you have been smart. Integrity etches character and define how righteous you conduct your life and business. There is no money in the world that will convince me to do a job in a client that doesn’t sound like the best option in that specific case. In a world covered in lies, being honest and straightforward is one of the most honorable qualities one can have!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Bea Robinson, brazilian, almost 55 years old, founder and craft master at Smart Touch Skin Solutions. Our business is focused on giving women the gift of feeling good about themselves. We offer permanent cosmetics (eyebrows, eyeliner and lips) and also medical tattoos (areolas, scar camouflages, cleft lips, hypopigmentation corrections) so people can have the opportunity to feel whole again.
Nineteen years ago we created a probono fund, focused on helping breast cancer survivors, alopecia patients and domestic violence victims. Every paying client contributes, 10% of every paying fee goes to the probono fund so we can offer partial or total probono to people who cannot afford our treatments.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My grandfather! He was an immigrant and never had the opportunity to go to school.
As a self taught person he developed a very well shaped sense of business and found a way to be successful leaning just on relationships with his clients. Everything was about trust.
I learned that people come to your business because of you! When you deliver a pleasant experience your client will bring others automatically.
We have a lot of Al and IT resources right now but those will never replace the human part of your business.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I believe I was born with chronic anxiety because I don’t remember not being anxious at minimal dialy things. The question in my head is always this: “What if this step forward doesn’t happen as expected? What is my plan B?
For me it is really hard to deal with things I have absolutely no control over, and I depend on someone else’s actions to reach a goal, even if it is a very small one.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely! I don’t know how to fake, I always failed when I tried. At this point I am not concerned about what people think about myself. I am comfortable in my own skin and if something doesn’t feel right I will tell right away. Does it make me feel vulnerable? Not at all because I would never change anything on myself to please people. I also don’t know how to “sugarcoat” so l attract people who knows how to appreciate honesty and transparency.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If immortality were real, what would you build?
I would make my business scale at the point “the sky is the limit”. I would hire a staff, give trainings and create a huge team. Question is: “Why don’t I do that now while mortal?” Because life is too short and I look forward retiring in 7 years so l can travel and see all the places in my bucket list. My work relies a lot on my vision and hand stability and at some point it will be complicated to keep working due to the natural aging process. I may get a partner and let her take over when l am no longer able to perform my art.
For now, it is just a plan I may put on action in a few years from now.
