Today we’d like to introduce you to Russell Moody.
Russell, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my career selling Honda parts in Georgia, where I developed strong relationships with the team and became intrigued by the collision repair side of the business. That interest led me to expand my knowledge and pursue opportunities in the collision field. Although I was initially passed over, I was soon offered an Estimator position with European Collision Repair (ECR).
From there, I immersed myself in all aspects of the industry and quickly advanced to General Manager. Eventually, I was entrusted with the challenge of relocating to Nashville to serve as GM for the Tennessee store. With the support of my team, we successfully expanded into another location. Not long after, ECR was acquired by a large MSO. This presented a new challenge, as I’ve never been drawn to a corporate structure.
After careful discussions with my wife, Melissa, and our children, I chose to take a leap of faith and launch Nashville Collision. This journey has truly been an unexpected blessing for both me and my family, and I am grateful for the opportunities it has provided. Having only opened our doors a year ago, the success we have achieved expanding our services has exceeded our expectations. This is due to the phenomenal team that chose to take this leap with me and most importantly, our customers. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a body shop from scratch came with plenty of challenges. One of the biggest was building trust as the ‘new shop in town.’ We didn’t have the name recognition of larger, established competitors, so every repair had to prove our quality and earn word-of-mouth referrals. Another obstacle was the financial side—investing in equipment and tools while making sure the business stayed afloat. There were long days, tough decisions, and plenty of moments where it felt like the odds were stacked against us. But every challenge pushed us to work harder, stay true to our values, and focus on the one thing we could control: delivering honest, top-notch work.

Our shop is more than just a place to fix cars—it’s a place where quality craftsmanship and honest service come first. We specialize in auto body repair and paint work, taking vehicles that have been damaged and restoring them to look like new. What really sets us apart is the pride we take in doing things the right way, not the fast way. Every repair is treated with the same care we’d give our own car.
We’re known for our attention to detail, fair pricing, and personal approach. Customers aren’t just another job ticket here—they’re neighbors, friends, and part of the community we serve. We want people to walk away not only with their car looking better than before, but with the peace of mind that they were taken care of honestly.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
One thing we definitely dislike is the traffic—it’s gotten heavier as the city has grown, and that can make getting around a challenge. But what we really love about Nashville far outweighs that. The city has such an incredible variety of restaurants to explore, endless things to do, and a real sense of diversity that makes it feel vibrant and welcoming. We enjoy that there’s always something new to discover, whether it’s food, music, or community events.
