Community Highlights: Meet Nicole Barton of Grassroots Health and Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Barton.

Hi Nicole, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I actually started my career in healthcare as a nurse, working in emergency medicine and pediatrics back home in Chicago. At the same time, I pursued massage therapy and a degree in nutrition, because I’ve always been fascinated by the many ways our bodies can heal and thrive. After several years in that fast-paced environment, I realized I wanted to move toward a more natural, holistic approach to health. That led me to Orlando to be closer to family and to begin my chiropractic journey.
I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida in 2016 and became Webster certified, which allows me to support women throughout pregnancy and beyond. Along the way, I’ve also trained as a birth doula, completed my functional medicine certification, and I’m currently pursuing advanced training in prenatal and pediatric chiropractic care.
My personal journey into chiropractic really began after I suffered a severe injury while working at the hospital. It nearly cost me my quality of life, but chiropractic care helped me heal in a way that traditional medicine hadn’t. That experience lit a fire in me—I knew I wanted to help others discover the same kind of hope and healing.
Today, my passion is guiding people toward health from a whole-person perspective—mind, body, and spirit—and educating families about natural, healthy lifestyles.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road’s had plenty of bumps — but honestly, that’s what builds resilience. Every time something didn’t go according to plan (and trust me, there have been plenty of those), it pushed me to think differently, grow stronger, and get clearer on our vision at Grassroots. Struggles have just been the tuition for the education of entrepreneurship.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Grassroots Health & Wellness, we specialize in whole-family, neurologically-based chiropractic care with a strong focus on prenatal and pediatric health. Our team of skilled doctors are Webster certified and extensively trained in caring for moms and kids, our practice is known for creating personalized care plans that honor each person’s unique needs. What truly sets us apart is our holistic and heart-centered approach—we don’t just chase symptoms, we look at the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. Our patients often tell us that coming here feels different from any other health office because they feel heard, supported, and welcomed like family (and our office dog, Wrigley, makes sure of that too!). Brand-wise, we’re most proud of building a community where education, trust, and authentic connection are at the center of everything we do. We want readers to know that chiropractic is about so much more than back pain—it’s about restoring balance in the nervous system so your body can function the way it was designed. Whether you’re preparing for a smoother pregnancy, supporting your child’s development, or simply seeking more energy and long-term vitality, our care is designed to help you thrive at every stage of life.

How do you define success?
For me, success isn’t just about numbers or accolades—it’s about the impact we have on the people we serve. I define success as helping my patients and their families experience true wellness, feel empowered in their health, and live life without limitations. It’s seeing a mom have a smoother pregnancy, a child thrive in their development, or a patient regain energy and confidence they didn’t think was possible. Success is also building a community where people feel supported, educated, and genuinely cared for—a place where they can come as they are and leave feeling better in mind, body, and spirit.
