Exploring Life & Business with Kaliana Chrisman of Chrisman Travels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaliana Chrisman.

Hi Kaliana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was raised by my grandparents who did a lot of traveling so I made it to a lot of places super early on in life which put this permanent travel bug into me. The more I traveled, the more I wanted to see and experience. I’ve been to 37 states so far between family travel and independent travel and 10 additional countries with repeats of several and an on going bucket list of other places I’d love to visit.

I saw a job listing to become a travel agent and new that I wanted to be able to help people see and appreciate the world in the same light I do.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge is staying motivated and on track during slow season. People aren’t always booking vacations so when the requests aren’t coming in back to back it can be difficult to remember why you started in the first place and to come up with a game plan to keep the ball rolling.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m a full service travel agent, but particularly love working with couples who are looking for a trip to either reconnect in their relationship, or just simply need time away from life together. Rather they’re looking for an all inclusive resort in Mexico or city hopping through Europe, getting to know my clients as individuals allows me to customize the trip completely to them.
While I love working with couples, I’m able to help plan trips of all size and to just about anywhere. New places for couples means new research opportunities for me. I may not know everything when it comes to travel, but I do thrive on learning and providing that information so others don’t feel like they have to be bogged down raking through details.
One thing that sets me apart from others is that I really take pride in my work from step one. I’m not a book it and forget about it kind of travel agent. While I do have some clients who need literally nothing in between booking and traveling, I make sure I’m available for any questions or concerns they may have and make sure I’m available as possible for anything they need from the time we start the planning process to the time they’ve made it back home.

How do you define success?
I would define success as always growing, always learning, and always striving to be better. I don’t think that success ends strictly when you meet one goal but rather when you recognize that you can continue to push yourself farther and always be bettering yourself.
