Hi George, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Wales, UK, and my journey into dance started thanks to my Nan, who loves to line dance (she’s 89). That’s where I fell in love with country music and movement. From there, I trained professionally at Laines Theatre Arts in London on a full scholarship, studying singing, acting, and dancing.
After graduating, I performed around the world — including for the Queen of England at the Royal Variety Show — and Danced on west end in London and performed for many artists . I also spent seven incredible years dancing for Royal Caribbean, visiting over 50 countries. Eventually, I made the move to Las Vegas, performing in shows along the Strip before finding my home in Nashville, Tennessee.
Today, I teach and promote line dancing full-time, focusing on building community and sharing the joy of country dance with people everywhere. I also choreograph line dances for celebrities such as Chris Young, Jon Pardi, Lanco, Ashland Craft and danced for Katy Perry & diplo. I have also founded the Standard Western Line Dance Showdown, a nationwide competition that’s growing fast and helping showcase the best dancers across America.
My goal has always been simple: to inspire others through dance and make country dancing as celebrated as country music itself.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road — but every challenge has shaped who I am today. Early on, I had to work incredibly hard to stand out in the competitive world of performing arts. Leaving home at a young age to train full-time was a huge leap, and the professional dance world can be both physically and mentally demanding.
When I transitioned from stage performance to teaching and building my own brand, there were a lot of unknowns. Starting over in a new country, adapting to the U.S. dance scene, and trying to grow country dance beyond the bar scene took time, persistence, and a lot of faith.
There were moments of doubt, especially when balancing travel, choreography, and business — but I’ve always believed that if you stay true to your passion and your purpose, the right doors open. Every obstacle pushed me to grow stronger, more creative, and more determined to bring people together through dance.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a professional dancer, choreographer, and instructor based in Nashville, Tennessee, specializing in country line dancing and performance. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to perform around the world — from dancing for the Queen of England at the Royal Variety Show to spending seven years with Royal Caribbean, visiting over 50 countries.
Today, I focus on teaching, choreography, and producing events that grow the country dance community. I’m the founder of the Standard Western Line Dance Showdown, a nationwide competition series designed to celebrate the best male and female line dancers across the U.S. It’s become a platform for dancers to showcase their talent and for audiences to experience the energy and artistry of modern line dance.
I’m most proud of how far country dance has come and how many people it brings together — from beginners learning their first steps to seasoned performers competing on stage. What sets me apart is my background in both professional theater and country dance. I bring a mix of showmanship, technique, and authenticity to everything I do, with the goal of making country dance not just something people watch, but something they feel part of.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think luck has played a part in my journey, but I also believe you create your own opportunities. I’ve had the chance to perform in professional shows in London and all around the world, but those moments only happened because I stayed prepared and ready to step up when opportunity knocked.
There’s been plenty of ups and downs — canceled projects, unexpected changes, and moments of uncertainty — but I’ve learned from every single one. My motto has always been “fail to prepare, prepare to fail.” That mindset keeps me grounded and focused, whether I’m choreographing, performing, or running events for the Standard Western Country Dance brand.
In the end, I think success is a mix of timing, hard work, and attitude. Luck might open the door, but preparation is what gets you through it.
