Exploring Life & Business with Lila McCann of Living True Home Group At MW Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lila McCann.

Hi Lila, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve lived a few creative lives, and somehow they’ve all led me right here. I started out in the music industry, signing my first record deal as a teenager. My debut album, Lila, went on to sell over a million copies, and my second record, Something in the Air, was certified Gold. Those years were a whirlwind of touring, songwriting, and connecting with people through stories. That chapter taught me how to listen, communicate, and show up with heart : things that still shape how I do business today.

When I got married, I took a step back from the spotlight to raise my two amazing boys, who are now teenagers. After my divorce in 2017, I found myself at a crossroads and needed to find work that could support my family while still allowing me to build something meaningful. That’s when real estate entered the picture.

After more than twenty years in Nashville, I earned my license in 2018 and quickly realized that helping people find home felt a lot like writing a song. It’s emotional, it’s personal, and when it’s done right, it tells someone’s story.

Today, I’m the Managing Broker at MW Real Estate’s City Heights office and a partner at Living True Home Group, where I get to work alongside two of my favorite humans. We’re an all-female team focused on knowledge, kindness, and community… the good stuff that makes this work so fun and impactful.

Outside of my real estate business, I serve on the Board of Directors for Daybreak Arts, which supports artists overcoming homelessness and housing insecurity, and for Greater Nashville Realtors, where I help shape the future of our local real estate community.

It’s been a winding road from stages to open houses, but the common thread has always been connection… helping people feel seen, heard, and at home.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road hasn’t been a straight line, that’s for sure. I signed my first record deal at 14, and by the time I got married at 23, I’d already spent nearly a decade in the music business. When I had my first child at 27, I started to realize how hard it was to find my place in that world anymore. I was basically told my time was up. That I’d had my moment. I didn’t believe that, but I did know things had to change.

So I stepped back. I focused on raising my boys and stayed creative in other ways, writing songs for other artists, working behind the scenes as a production manager, and taking on photography projects. It was a humbling season that taught me a lot about resilience, reinvention, and finding value outside of the spotlight.

Looking back, that period of transition shaped me more than I realized. It gave me a grounded perspective and a work ethic I still lean on today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Living True Home Group At MW Real Estate?
Living True Home Group was built on friendship, shared values, and a love for helping people find their place in the world. The three of us started as individual agents who admired each other’s work and realized we had something special when we came together. The perfect blend of heart, humor, and hard-earned skill.

We’re based in Nashville and proud to be part of MW Real Estate, a boutique brokerage that gives us the flexibility to focus on what really matters: our clients and our community. We work all across Greater Nashville, helping people buy and sell homes with a balance of strategy and soul.

What sets Living True apart is that we operate as true partners, not a hierarchy. Every client gets the benefit of three seasoned agents collaborating on their behalf. We’re known for being knowledgeable and detail-oriented, but also approachable and real. We believe home buying doesn’t have to be stressful, it can actually be joyful when you have the right team by your side.

Our clients come to us for our expertise, but they stay for how we teach and communicate. We love breaking down the process, answering questions, and empowering people to feel confident in their decisions.

People often describe Living True as warm, educational, and professional… and that’s exactly who we are. We show up fully for our clients, lead with kindness, and work hard to make every home journey feel meaningful.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is connection. With my family, my community, and the people I get to serve through my work. At home, it’s the simple things that fill me up: spending time with my wife and our two boys, cooking a big meal, and having friends gathered around our table. My love language is definitely food and hospitality. We recently bought a home on four wooded acres, and we’re in the process of renovating it into our dream home. A place that feels peaceful, a little wild, and completely us.

Living an authentic life and showing up as who I really am is something I no longer take for granted. There was a time I felt like I had to fit into certain boxes, both personally and professionally, and now I’ve learned the power of simply being myself. That truth has made my relationships stronger and my work more meaningful.

Professionally, I’m happiest when I’m connecting with people, whether it’s my clients, my colleagues, or the community groups I’m part of. I serve on the boards for Daybreak Arts and Greater Nashville Realtors, and I’m also an active member of the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance, which focuses on homeownership and education for the LGBTQ+ community. Being involved in organizations that advocate for inclusion, creativity, and opportunity brings me a lot of joy.

At the end of the day, I’m a people person through and through. Getting to know my clients, hearing their stories, and watching their goals turn into reality brings me so much happiness. There’s nothing better than seeing someone step into a home, or a new chapter, that feels truly theirs.
