Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Garrido.
Hi Joe, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a practicing physician in the Nashville area for nearly 10 years. In 2024, I sold my condo in The Gulch and made a healthy profit. Instead of using that money as a down payment, I decided to launch my own real estate development company. Since then, I’ve been building two subdivisions — one in North Nashville and another in Lebanon — as well as developing single-family homes in Berry Hill. I’m also actively flipping houses and have expanded into the luxury market, where I’m now building custom homes over 8,000 square feet.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Finding reliable lenders and maintaining steady capital has been a challenge. Nashville’s real estate market is one of the toughest in the country right now — but if you can succeed here, you can succeed anywhere.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in new construction, house flips, and building subdivisions throughout Middle Tennessee. Working as a hospital physician has sharpened my problem-solving skills, which has helped me grow my real estate business exponentially. My social media presence is also expanding, allowing me to share my journey and connect with more people along the way.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Yes, I mentor others as well. Developers focus on finding great deals — often off-market — and knowing how to properly underwrite them. Having access to capital is essential when you’re starting out. You’ll face tough markets along the way, but those challenges will only make you stronger.
